As the bullys thread is locked….

I still don’t understand about bullies and ive been here gawd knows how many years. Just ignore it or switch off the pc.

But i suppose if you bring your private life in to this place people will tear it apart.

People sometimes give too much of themselves, without knowing the person they are trusting very well, I guess. No matter how used to the internet and chat world we all think we are, it is still easy to get taken in by people with no scruples. It is also difficult to factor in those people for whom life is different, whose judgements are skewed a little, and that can cause problems.

If you know you are dealing with someone who can be a bit shall we say flakey, then you adjust your behaviour towards them accordingly. But that can often take time to figure out and by then, it may be a bit too late.

I actually don’t think any bullying is going on at all. I just think that this environment causes misunderstandings and misjudgements and some people can’t deal with the way it pans out. If someone is even the tiniest bit paranoid, chat rooms/msn/etc etc can make them even more paranoid, and distressed. But also, I think the odd person likes to pretend grievances in order to be the centre of attention. They spam the boards with perceived slights and angst and wait for the fall out, along the lines that negative attention is better than no attention at all.

But this place is not compulsory, its not like going to school or work and being bullied. If you dont like what you read or feel your being bullied then go elsewhere. Nothing will ever change here.

great post – sometimes people can not accept that others are what they are and feel a need to in some way try to put them down

Chat is about knowing who you talk to and trusting that what is said in private remains so
