Right, wordy, vengeance for Capt Scott lol

This is partly thwarted by your recognition that William Wallace didn’t get to Derby (I think twas York, though that is memory – I have a long memory lol).

The Jacobites got there because they wanted the Young Pretendeer on the British throne. They were aiming for London, not Scottish independence. In fact, the clan mentality of the Scots Jacobites had no conception of Scottish nationhood, which is why Scotland was so often wracked with civil war (the Camplells are cumming hah ha ha ha).

This was doomed, as Flora MacDonald was awaitin’, but in the part of Cumbria in which I grew up, the legnend is that there is a litter of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s descendants. He may have been a cad, but the lasses went for him.

It was probably because he was a cad. I wikipedia’d Flora to remind myself (so much forgotten . . . . ) For a fleeting moment I thought I recognised her picture – was I Flora MacDonald’s fancy?

Is Norris from Coronation Street a national, ethnic or racial identity?

    He is a character on a soap opera.. . . .

    Ain’t we all . . . . . .?

Yeah, but the trouble with me is, is that I am exactly the same in real life – not a bit like Norris, I might add!

A good writer is like a good taxi driver in that he’ll get you from A to B as smoothly as possible without emergency braking and going off on an inappropriate route. I just think Wordsworth should apply for a provisional licence before he starts taking passengers on a ride.

Terry, I feel slightly flattered by your attention. I am a bit disappointed that you didn’t get what I said as it was a heartfelt answer to the question “Are you British?” especially in comparison to being English.

I don’t claim to be a good writer by any standards, I post or chat in JC for fun and friendship and to take part, not compete. I’m sorry to be the cause of such negativity.

As to getting anyone from A to B, it appears to have been more of a bicycle ride with ruby on the crossbar. No tax, no test, no insurance, no Knowledge, no registration. We took the scenic route and enjoyed it. Taxi drivers hate us, of course.

I wonder who would post if everyone had to pass a JC Knowledge test first? Who would get insurance? How would PC’s be deemed suitable for carrying passengers . . . . maybe that’s for another thread . . . .

I wouldn’t be too disheartened with my mate Telvis Words.
    He’s a pussycat really.
Well.. Maybe without the cat bit

Just be thankful he hasn’t crucified you on the whole grammar / punctuation gig..

    ..Yet

Oh, I think Wordsworth could hold his own on the grammar and punctuation front. Nothing like a spot of correct English to put a smile on my face though, so I look forward to further developments. I’m rather partial to people with beautiful linguistic skills.

This place wouldn’t be the same without you Sgt. Having said that, you were less pretentious back in the days when you were just a Corporal.

Who has these “beautiful linguistic skills” that you talk about? :-s I’m new here.
