Well Saturday i chilled out with Nettie……..watched the sequel to Into the blue with the well thought out title…Into the Blue 2…lol Great film…loads of under water shots with turtles etc.

Watched Shannara Chronicles new episode on My 5 as Nettie only has series one so far. Fantasy series that was written originally by Terry Brooks and heavily critiqued back in the day for copying Lord of the Rings plot lines . Although in the second book…The Elf-stones of Shannara…..the plot really comes into it’s own. Awesome series and the scenery is beautiful.

Ordered a copy of game of Thrones series 7 off e-bay while i remembered as i like to watch a whole series at a time of this great epic.

Incidentally…..talking of trees…one of the most imaginative books i read as a kid was The Far Away  Tree by Enid Blyton….These kids found a tree that was really tall and full of funny characters and there was a new land at the top regularly. One of Enid’s best creations.

OMG I loved the faraway tree it was my favourite!!!!!!!!!!

Think I have a book somewhere I found off ebay or even the one I used to read.

    Was an amazing idea.

    Pippa and moonface.

I like Shannara Chronicals didn’t know there were new episodes, will have a look.

I also watched all of Salem which is dark but good.

And Ive so far watched all of Once upon a time but its not so much fun without the pretty blonde one in it anymore.

Lol@pippa and moonface…yeah they lived half way up the tree and handed out lemonade and moon biscuits. Some great lands at the top including The school of dame Slap.A head mistress who would slap yer legs for any reason at all. LOL. When you hear the whooshing noise you had to get back on the tree fast or you’d be caught in the land for ever.

Once Upon a time was another great idea…full of all the fairy tale characters.Rumpelstiltskin was played by Robert Carlyle. Never the same when certain characters leave as you say as the story becomes some what emptier.

New episodes of Shannara are on My5 at the moment on the internet(catch up channel). Up to episode 6 of series 2. In this series..they’ve veered off from the original stories and made a tie in where The Dark Lord is about to rise again and Will has the sword of Shannara and he goes back in time and meets his father. Become a bit Dr Who- Terminator orientated  but it’s still excellent.

Funnily enough…The Elfstones of Shannara involved a huge tree called The Elcrees which was dying and after the last leaf fell, the magic that held the demons in captivity would be broken and they would break free. Twist was that the hero (amberlee) had to become part of the tree in order to make it live.

And the druid…Allannon: feel sorry for that guy….he was always thinking of the greater good but was always accused of causing events to happen or people dying.

There were 7 original Shannara stories. Must read them all again one day…awesome! might even order a copy of Faraway tree off ebay to remember it all.

I think there were 2 books…The Faraway Tree and further adventures of the Faraway tree.

Ok just ordered The faraway Tree off e-bay. LOL You’r never too old to rekindle yer childhood imagination. I’ve ordered the 512 page…3 story collection. Includes: The Magic Faraway Tree-Folk of The faraway Tree and Further adventures up the Far away Tree.

There seems to be another book entitled The Wishing Chair which is some how related as that comes in a four part set but i was never aware of that.

Yes ive heard of that not sure I read it as a child.  I was a really big reader when I was young id stay up all night and be tired for school.  My parents never saw me id be in my room reading all the time lol.

Don’t read much anymore have no patience even though I read very fast and can read a book in hours.

Favourite book of all time for me is a book called Dreamweaver by Johnathan Wylie.  I also love Trudi Canavan, Raymond Feist and David Eddings.

You heard of any of those?

I have heard a lot about Orange is the new Black Ruby so have put it on my ever increasing list of things to watch or read as  through December and January i tend to delve a lot more into a good book or visual entertainment.

Great to have discipline and watch only one episode per night. Wish i was more like that. My record for watching Box sets is to watch 40 episodes of Game of Thrones (series 1-4) in 3 days. Mind you it was a bank Holiday Weekend. Next Saturday,,,ill be settling down to watch the whole of series 7 on DVD between Saturday night and Sunday morning. I am presuming it’s the same 10 episodes as in the other series.

Another great classic set of five books i read as a kid was : The Black Cauldron by Lyoyd Alexander( 1965) awesome adventures..The Prysbain chronicles.

David Eddings was cool! The Belgariad chronicles. A set of five which i started reading but got side tracked by the Shannara Stories for some time. At this particular time…my library in town had all these great fantasy stories in Hard back editions which was awesome. Used to sit in the library for hours when i had spare time reading them.
