I think with early diagnosis they are winning half the battle. Unfortunately the word cancer covers a huge range of illnesses all reacting differently depending on the form and even down to the individual who hosts it and on that basis there will never be a cure for cancer in our lifetime. Having said that they are certainly beginning to cure and control many of the individual forms of the disease.

7 July, 2011 at 12:50 pm #453030Yeah kenty.. Life can be VERY cruel at times. ;( and thanks for your replies Girls. I have heard of people before with the blocked Milk Duct. Must be a right scare to find one. Whilst you wee buggers have hardly encouraged me to go skipping and a hopping all the way :) I WIll go, as i know how important it is, and i have Cancer in the Family ( sister) . I have heard your more likely by % to maybe get it if you have / had a sibling with it.
On a better note Im Proud of the research that has gone on in my Home City of Dundee, towards finding a cure. or at least a little way getting there.and kenty dont mention smear tests ffs.. I ended up in an astronaut looking seat thing last time, to find the hiding cervix LOL..
Thanks for your honesty Sisters :) x

I had to go and have investigations and a biopsy a few years ago in that region and I was sitting in the waiting room and some guy nearing retirement was coming in calling for the ppl ahead of me so I thought nothing of it. Anyway there must have been a shift change coz when it came to being my name called this drop dead gorgeous Dr of a similar age to me came wandering in and called my name.
Couldn’t help but find the whole thing uncomfortable and under any other circumstances would have loved a hotty like that playing with my lady lumps but at that moment I wanted the ground to swallow me whole (especially at the questions he asked).
Haha it’s all what makes life interesting though huh?I can empathise with that Melody after having a mammogram and being told to wait outside until they looked at the x-rays they called me back in for a scan. This doctor tripped in looking at my notes then looked up and said ooooooh its THE Mrs Rosepetal! I could have died it was a father of three kids that attended my school. As he scanned the offending part, I remember looking at his eyes and wondering how he was going tell me. He simply looked across and said sorry Rose you’ve got cancer. I was and always will be grateful for his straight talking no nonsense approach.
I could go on and tell you about the Extra Squeezy Tool that comes later and the horrendous staple gun thingy they ram into your most tender parts but of course i wouldnt want to scare you lol
So keep checking girls , you know it makes sense! lol

7 July, 2011 at 6:19 pm #453033omg Rose – hope you will be ok! xxx
My dawta has three lumps on one of her breasts – she went to her quacks who said nothing to worry about – she has an appointment tomorrow at mine – soz for being overprotective, but it isn’t normal in a 19yr old, and her grandmother died of it!
Better safe than sorry I reckon, even tho she hates me for interfering – tough boobies! x
