I like the idea of a wicker coffin (I looked them up a while ago), only inconvenience would be to buy one beforehand (as here they tend to bury you within a couple of days of your death), and they’re apparently only sold online, unless one wants to be kept in a morgue for an indefinite number of days waiting for the purchase to arrive.

Not too keen on the idea of being kept in a morgue though.

I’m still unsure about what’s going to happen to me though (as in burial or cremation), I used to be all for burial ..but not too sure now.

The trend here seems to be towards cremation nowadays, even the Pope has given his approval as long as the ashes are laid to rest in a cemetary.

My mothers wishes were to be cremated, so I had her cremated, but instead of laying her to rest in a cemetary (there was already a family tomb for her ashes to be placed and it would have cost me nothing moneywise to use it), but I preferred to buy a nice urn and keep her in my home.

I apologise to the Pope for not following my religion.

Funeral directors provide any type of coffin you require. Most do bio-degradeable coffin manufactured by hand using woven bamboo, banana leaves, degradable cardboard, from at least 70% post consumer waste, sourced from British mills, Pure New British Wool coffins supported on a strong recycled cardboard frame. The list is endless.
The reason for funeral delays today are the lack of catholic priests in the church. Most priests today are running 3 parishes. This means if you want the parish of your choice you have to wait for the priest to arrange it.

Here they have their own choice of coffins to choose from, they’re all private businesses (minus one ran by the council),  and I’m not sure they’d provide you with one they don’t sell, never heard of anyone having a wicker/ cardboard coffin, they dont even make them here as far as I know, the ones I found online are from UK or US.

Oh… and thanks for the link to the  flowery coffin .. lol

Went to see my sis at work other day…..she gave a customer her change which included a new five pound note…..the woman swiftly handed it back and said I don’t want a new note….so my sis said I haven’t got any old five pound notes……its ok ill have coins instead she said..

Its got animal fat in it she said…I refuse to handle them…its the principle of the thing blah blah blah…..my sister said…well when all the notes eventually are phased out and new ones phased in you will struggle carrying an awful lot of pound coins…..and by the way you have a leather purse there ……to which she snapped “I’m not a vegan”!!

I’m all for standing up for what you believe in…but did the woman have a valid point?….I mean she had a point obviously because she believed what she was saying

I read a while back that all the AA sequenced five pound notes that were issued…and there were bazillions (a lot anyway) of them….there would have not even been half a cow used
