Cant find my original Anything you like thread (actually truth be told not sussed out how to do a search)
26 December, 2016 at 10:47 pm #1012383His certainly didn’t couldn’t stand it. Had a couple mins of “bloody hell” but that’s it, I certainly don’t get the grief and tears thing.. he wasn’t family I didn’t even know him, it’s an initial shock but that’s the end of it, I liked Bowie’s early stuff but i didn’t suffer grief when he died.
And how come the celebs, especially singers are always wonderful misunderstood troubled individuals when substance abuse is involved but crack heads on the street are just vile ?
RIP to all of them but unless I knew them well or they were family i won’t be shedding tears.
I will put this here because I don’t want to disrespect an RIP thread. Petes type.
I was shocked at the death….no age at all, I liked most of his music and I do think he had an amazing talent as a songwriter. But what Pete says about crack heads on the street being seen totally different is so true. Very sad on every level in every aspect.

I don’t really understand it either. I think its to get attention for some people, but I have no idea.

Because they can afford to buy drugs without having to commit crimes. Of course not all people who use drugs are criminals (except for taking illegal drugs), but the only ones that people hear about are the bad ones.

27 December, 2016 at 10:02 pm #1012496This will make you smile then. I went to London specifically for Princess Di’s funeral, her brothers speech genuinely made the hairs on the back of the neck stand on end and a at first quiet, slow ripple of applause slowly erupted in Hyde Park, until it was a loud almost thunder. Only the Brits can applaud so politely. I wasn’t personally mourning Di, for me it was like sticking two fingers up to the establishment but the thousands of bouquets of flowers left outside Harrods and up Bromton Road etc was genuinely moving. Shame about 13 years of the establishment Blair afterwards, but that’s an all together different topic.

28 December, 2016 at 11:19 pm #1012541Too many people live their lives through celebs..they have their eyes and ears open for their love lives, their public and publicised anger and pain and joy, and when the celebs die, they feel as though it’s hit them personally.
And so it has..in a way.
Princess Di was a classic example. She lived ehr life among the paparazzi, and had her heart on her sleeve. The Princess of Live Aid. When she died my family took a long walk to get away from the claustrophobic hype. Normally deserted fells were inhabited by amny people doing the same.
A friend of mine was nearly attacked for smiling while walking through Finsbury Park. Apparently she had no right to smile on the day of the funeral of ‘the people’s Princess”. pah!
These people have private lives – their death touches their close ones, and the gried must be respected. But the rest of us..well another celeb has popped.
