Thanks ARgyl.
That guy today was fit, and I would have been cheering for him if I was there. :P bout time we had a “guy next door” type of player with a normal upbringing in the world of tennis.
His serve was pretty good too. Maybe next year……………
26 June, 2008 at 11:28 pm #350230Andy Murray was brought up in Dunblane. I would say that’s a pretty normal upbringing.
As for this guy he’s number 600+ in the world for a good reason. He won 1 match at Wimbeldon backed by a home crowd.
Shows how bad British Tennis is that we build these no hopers up to be the next big thing. Sorry to be brutal but it’s the truth. I doubt the Yanks would give this type of coverage if one of their guy’s had that ranking, and won 1 match.27 June, 2008 at 7:27 am #350231I’ll only be watching it when This lady is about!
:P

Your right tennis in this country is in a terrible state, but nobodies going to do anything about it. Tim was pleading earlier for someone to sponser this guy through all the forthcoming tournaments as he needs to play in them to improve.
My friends granddaughter is an ace player, champion in her age in the county but the family do not have the ability for her to go any further without outside help, its so wrong to see talent wasted because of money.

The guy went to the same Schoool as Tim, so I’m guessing that’s Public School.
29 June, 2008 at 12:01 pm #350235Im gonna stick my neck out and say Murray will win wimbledon this year.
There…. I said it!
he better not let me down now!
Watching him yesterday even when he is behind he is so focused, and surprises me with his game. Tim never did that. Im really really optimistic (hopefully correctly so).
29 June, 2008 at 12:59 pm #350236The matches will become significantly more difficult now, but outside of Federer and Nadal I’d say he’s got as good a chance as anyone. Nadal’s got a tough match before the Quarters. (as has Murray) If Nadal get’s knocked out then the road to the Final would open up for Murray.
29 June, 2008 at 3:06 pm #350237Where he’d get trounced by Federer

Hard to disagree Pete, but if Murray got to the Final and lost 6-0 6-0 6-0 to Federer it would still be a fantastic achievement.
Realistically the only person who can stop Federer this year is Nadal.
