Anyone read a good book lately? I’ve had several – I quite like the new Mark Haddon novel called “A Spot Of Bother” (he also did the brilliant “Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night”) – very Nick Hornbyish, but with some really deep and sympathetic characters. Very much recommended.
The other book I have enjoyed is “Season of the Witch” by Natasha Mostert. I am not usually into magic and fantasy kind of stuff but a friend bought me the book saying I would like it – and they were right. The witch stuff is quite subtle – no hags and cauldrons – instead its set in the modern day and the world of computer hackers and internet. And there’s a good romantic subplot as well to keep you happy on that front – its all very well put-together. I recommend that one too.
