Soulie if her AV client recognised it as I-LOVE-YOU then it was because they are recognised by there generic fingerprint unique like DNA.

Trend Micro’s antivirus technology will help protect MSN Hotmail email attachments by scanning in real-time for the latest viruses, Trojans, and worms.
It is your method of passing this on to the less well informed that concerns me. Why the bad attitude or is it as Rainnyroos says and you post here in between squeezing spots?
Bert Crony
Trust me trend micro recognise the generic fingerprint of the I-LOVE-YOU worm. And they dont allow .vbs files to be attached

Okay, bear with me here people…………..
But, could it just be that Rainny opened an e-mail that had the virus but Hotmail had quarantined it and a message came up telling her that ??
It’s just a thought eh ???
I’m still going back to this. Any thoughts on this ???

30 January, 2005 at 7:12 pm #104786Okay, well I have only ever had one trojan on my PC that AVG quarantined so I’m not “all that” with what Hotmail does when it finds a virus.
Does Hotmail quarantine the virus as soon as the e-mail has been received in the in-box ??? If you open the e-mail, does Hotmail state that it’s found a virus ???
30 January, 2005 at 7:18 pm #104787Morty Hotmail blocks the malicious content and deletes it. It does’nt even give you the ‘we warned you are you still willing to download’ Option because it is blocked before it even gets to the Servers.

Yeah it alerts you of a suspected virus and blocks the content and wont let you download the attachment.
yes i think thats what happened.
But me not being tech minded, like “Mr Computer 2005” that you are…i thought i actually had it.
case solved…and now closed ok…

Okay SuperA. Thanks.
Perhaps it could have been a fake or something. People just panic when they see the word “virus”
