An Halloween Night
The wind whispers
A wary warning
There was plenty, still
Early this morningThese primal urges
Are hard to fight
An unholy diet
A dark appetiteThe pavement scrapes
With scuttling leaves
I’ll pull the drapes
And hope to deceiveThe moon suffocates
In ominous clouds
Shut off the lights
Heartbeats too loudThen the neighbor’s gate creaks
But it’s not the wind
That seeks to feast
On fearing humansRed brake lights
A car crawls by slow
The shadowy shapes
On my dark doorstep knowThat the empty window
Of my house lies.
The horrible truth
Hides deep insideEverything tonight
Could have been just dandy
But now the demons have wrath –
Cause I ate all the candy!Happy Halloween

the dark shadows almost dance
no sound, no sound
eerie silence decends
it is almost like
nothing is left
no movement
and yet i feel
a slight tremor as
my heart pounds
and for me
breaks the silence
sillohettes dance against my window
and a strange tapping
peering into the darkness
illusions rise
shadowy figures take form
they are close enough now
to touch me
maybe even
drag me with them
as they move alone
into the world outside
but resolutely
i take hold and run
break out
to air
to hope
