Black market guns are no problem to get over here or in the states. But we have the “do gooders” who think ban the gun. So your saying one shot gun for hunting only. Well theres a lot of deer and bigger game having a slow death as a shot gun is no good for that shooting. Thats the problem when ban the gun start as they dont know what there on about!!! Yes the USA do have gun probs but so do all countries. How many people in Northern Ireland have had there life’s changed by an AK47 ? Opps i forget that was a fight for “freedom”
5 August, 2015 at 9:10 am #526103i wouldn’t call killing people fighting for freedom, then again i dont live in the North of Ireland.
A more regulated gun control will stop illegal guns coming in and will be easy to stop them getting in.
Dylan Roof owned his gun.
The Columbine Shooters got their guns from Walmart.
The 3 year old boy who shoot his face off with his mothers Legal gun. What about all the killings with legal guns.
Also I answered all your quires, wheres your reply to why your getting upset about American gun laws if your from the UK?
5 August, 2015 at 4:21 pm #526104The reason is im pro gun and pro hunting and we are getting painted with the same brush. if someone gets shot its gown to gun oweners which is sh1t, guns dont kill its who pulls the trigger.

How many gun crimes have been committed recently?
How many more innocent people have to be murdered?I think America should get rid of all guns out of the hands of civilians.
There is no need for home protection (esp if you live in a peaceful area.)
Discuss.

Who’s painting British with the same brush as Americans in relation to gun crime?
Yes it is the person who pulls the trigger so what would your suggestion be for cutting down gun crime in America?
6 August, 2015 at 6:08 am #526106Im still saying lets get or county under control to stop kids carrying knifes (which you need to be over 18 to buy) You go on about the gun deaths in the U S but you have no comment about the deaths on our streets. Yes i agree that no one should have the right to own an assault rifle but its there laws not ours.Hunters over here and there need something bigger than a shot gun for large game or you would have wounded animals walking for days which is not good.We have the right for free speech so how would you like someone from North Korea posting we shouldnt have it? In most states in the U S you can own a gun but you cant carry concealed on your being in public. and as well as that 99.9% of gun owners have there guns for sport or protection in there homes.Accidents will happen as we are human. Have you ever been to the states and saw gun crime? well i have been and saw none just a copper 2 months after 911 just stood there hand on gun ready to do his job if needed.
6 August, 2015 at 6:47 am #526107I think….obviously I don’t now the statistics…that knives are a bigger problem in our country (at the moment at least)…..I live in a semi rural area….and we have seen a heavy influx of Londoners moving down…..the whole surrounding areas…..talking to them a lot of them tell you about stabbings every night and gun crime…..
I think because you don’t hear it on the news or read it in the paper you assume it doesn’t happen that often….if you hear about one stabbing or shooting every few weeks…you assume there was only one incident…..sadly not the case
You are right ride….its the users of weapons who are the problem
But what is the solution in areas like London? Many carry these weapons for self protection I think
We will be like America concerning these issues..probably not in the too distant future….scarey6 August, 2015 at 9:02 am #526108@ride the lighting wrote:

I have no comment about knife crime because i didnt start a thread about knife crime its about American gun laws.
Dont join the boards to single me out when im not the only one who thinks America have gone too far with “right to bare arms”.
As for “have you been to America, have you seen gun crime” – sorry but that’s irrelevant. Ive been to London and didn’t see any knife crime but i know it exists so i don’t have to witness a gun attack to know its happening on a large scale in the USA.
If you feel so strongly about knife crime then start a thread.6 August, 2015 at 10:12 am #526109http://www.rte.ie/news/2015/0806/719450-detroit-shooting/
An 11-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter over the fatal shooting of a toddler in Detroit.
The older boy allegedly shot the three-year-old boy in the face on Monday and he was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital, The Detroit News and other media said.
According to CBS Detroit, police at the scene said the boys had been playing with the gun.
The Detroit News quoted Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy as saying that the older boy was visiting his father’s house when he found a gun in a bedroom wardrobe.
He tossed it out of the bedroom window, Ms Worthy said, retrieved it outside and took it into a parked vehicle where the toddler joined him.
A short time later, Ms Worthy said, the 11-year-old shot the little boy dead.
If this man had a his gun locked away a 11 year old child would still be alive today. If there were proper checks it would have been locked away – or maybe he wouldn’t have been able to buy one in the first place – whats the fathers mental state if he leaves a gun unlocked with children around???6 August, 2015 at 10:22 am #526110@Mr Harp wrote:

Irish get a grip!!!!
1 Guns dont shoot people its the person pulling the trigger
2 Yanks have a right to bare arms but in most states they can not carry them in public
3 Anyone can get hold of a gun (you Irish should know)
4 Put our own country in order 1st before you start on others ie knife crimes
5 most gun owners are lawful people so dont paint us with the same brush and im from the uk!!!!whats wrong with having an opinion, that i need to get a grip?
1. Thats why they should only have one shootgun for hunting and nothing else, over 9,000 people get killed in the USA each year – less guns less murders. And more checks before allowed to purchase a gun would also help.
2. The declaration for independnce was signed back in 1776, things have changed since then and there was not a military force the size it is now – there fore no need for citizens to bare arms any more, as for not allowed to carry them in public – shame no one told Dylann Storm Roof or any of the school shooters that.
3. Exactly why there should be more stringent laws against buying them. – THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY POINT :D
4. IM not in politics, so i cant put “my Country in order” but i do give out about my Country just the same – well not about gun laws as only the drug police have guns, not even the normal Garda have them.
5. IF most are lawful then how come there are so many killings in America. If your from the UK why get your knickers in a twist about American gun laws??American States are separately legislating to ban magazine clips of more than 5/10 bullets.
Change is slowly coming through the back door, most Americans just don’t know it yet.Seen that, hopefully his plans work:
President Obama has unveiled a plan to address gun violence in the nation. The initiative consists of 23 executive actions and three presidential memoranda, most of which will require congressional approval. Many parts of the plan may have significant effects on states.
The plan:
Requires background checks for all gun sales and strengthens the background check system. This would include removing barriers under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act so that states may more freely share information about mental health issues involving potential gun purchasers.
Provides states with monetary incentives—$20 million in fiscal year FY 2013 and a proposed $50 million in FY 2014—to share information so that records on criminal history and people prohibited from gun ownership due to mental health reasons are more available.
Bans military-style assault weapons and limits magazines to a capacity of 10 rounds.
Provides additional tools to law enforcement. The plan proposes a crackdown on gun trafficking by asking Congress to pass legislation that closes “loopholes” in gun trafficking laws and establishes strict penalties for “straw purchasers” who pass a background check and then pass guns on to prohibited people.
Urges Congress to pass the administration’s $4 billion proposal to keep 15,000 state and local police officers on the street to help deter gun crime.
Maximizes efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime. The president calls upon the attorney general to work with U.S. attorneys across the country to determine gaps occurring in this area and where supplemental resources are appropriate.
Provides training for “active shooter” situations to 14,000 law enforcement, first responders and school officials.
Directs the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to issue a statement to health care providers that they are not prohibited by federal law from reporting threats of violence to the proper authorities.
Launches a national gun safety campaign to encourage responsible gun ownership and authorizes the Consumer Product Safety Commission to examine issues relating to gun safety locks.
Helps schools invest in safety. The president’s plan calls for more school resource officers and counselors in all schools through the Community Oriented Policing Services hiring program. The plan also calls for the federal government to assist schools in developing emergency management plans.
Improves mental health awareness through enhanced teacher training and referrals for treatment. The plan calls for the training of 5,000 additional mental health professionals nationwide. The plan also calls for coverage of mental health treatment under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008.6 August, 2015 at 11:11 am #526111once again agrees with Lucy..
most Americans think their gun control laws are crazy. The right to bear arms is enshrined in the US Constitution for good reasons – as a guard against state tyranny, whereby only the state’s armed forces and police are armed – but the gun laws are berserk over there
Lucy will be getting suspicious of me agreeing with her twice though
