ok i give in. keep throwing money at em…….while they keep producing kids they cant feed or keep healthy. after all it isnt their fault is it.
Population control isn’t the issue any more Pats… but drought and damage to infrastructure through war is. They are watching their children die in front of their eyes. This isn’t a question of having too many children and not being able to feed them. And yes you are right.. it isn’t their fault.
In another thread there was an outpouring of grief and horror because a dog was skinned alive for the fur trade. But yet on this thread.. it is as Actor paraphrased earlier in this thread… let them eat stand pipes!
It has the same effect on both threads… a lot of people like to shut their eyes to horrid happenings we have no control over.
Human nature or ignorance?

The lack of insight into another country is bordering on criminal. I used to complain that the Americans were insular and bigotted, that when they said World News, it would say “today in Chicago” or “today in Ohio” and nothing about the rest of the world was mentioned at all. This was a personal observation at a time that Iraq and Iran were at war. I knew it was happening, but not a single mention on the news in the States at all the whole time I was there.
Are we now the same as huge areas of America in that we don’t give a damn about the rest of the world as long as we are okay?
You should be Nicknamed ME ME!
11 August, 2008 at 7:39 pm #361010Good point….. well argued. You should go into politics.

Was my post fuc.king invisible or what? It goes without saying that any decent human is horrified by the suffering of the innocent..but in my book..that includes every living creature. In fact..hell..I PREFER animals to human beings and i’ll stand by that belief until a rabbit picks up a gun and shoots a poacher; a kitten drowns a farmer in a sack and an ass leads us all into a war..oops..that one’s been done.
Quit with the supercilious attitude and the cryptic musings..huh..leave them to the experts.11 August, 2008 at 8:11 pm #361012@esmeralda wrote:

i dont close my eyes to it. i just see the result of pouring millions in to help them……..zilch!.
11 August, 2008 at 8:25 pm #361014Pouring millions of people’s hard earnt money into ‘Save this’ and Save that’ for the latest banana republic government to cypher it all off to carry on their wars and leave their people more desperately in trouble. But hey if these warring African countries were oil rich despots the USA would be interested!

A succinct and accurate summary, Sword!

11 August, 2008 at 8:42 pm #361017Lots of good points!
Im with Esme on the animal side, with regards to their total innocence, Im with Pats on throwing money time and time again against what seems is a lost cause, Im with Sword for such a short and accurate post, Im with Minim for caring,
Nobody agrees people should be starving, nobody agrees animals should be cruelly and inhumanly slaughtered… they are both draconian and should be well in the past where they belong.
Im glad Im not a politician, I enjoy a good debate that people get their teeth into. Just a shame that these two particular issues will keep coming and coming, with no REAL long term resolutions either way.
And for once I do thank my lucky stars that I live in a lovely house with lovely running water, my kids are fed, the pets are treated better than the humans, and I dont really on balance want anything more.
I really appreciate what Ive got, and hope I continue to.
