alas fasty.. i cant do that. knackers me to walk the short distance to my daughters,, through NO fault of my own. I walk daily, even if its to shops and back.
But in my memories im back at the Roxy club, spinning around on heady delights ! and remembering how i was ignorant enough to assume id NEVER be this way,, and id live forever and id take on the world ,, and possibly START the REVOLUTION !
whilst admitting i might NEVER do that.. I can but dream and i CAN but hope, that some day, in the not too distant.poverty might be a word of the past. For ALL this world.

12 August, 2008 at 3:21 am #361091I’d love to be able to save the world but I can’t
I’d love to stop all the suffering but I can’t
I’d love to be able to write clever words on a silly message board but I can.t
Hats off to all those who think they can and do something about it
(I remember a JC poster who helped after the Tsunami)but just because some of you have taller horses than the rest of us
don’t think that because we joke about some things
we care any lessI needed a wee and a cup of tea

They have to batty or die it’s that simple
But pete they have had millions of pounds chucked at them over the years and they still die. I don,t know what the hell the answer is, but having more children that they can,t feed doesn,t help them really does it? The site of those pitiful children is heartbreaking. Makes you realise how lucky we are in the UK.
they dont show the adults dying though Batty we wouldnt send as much money. It’s climate and the more kids they have the more will survive and the longer they’ll live. We cant control the weather but if we can at least give them clean water and help when the climate is such that the crop fails is that too much to ask
No of course it isn,t too much to ask pete. I didn,t mean to suggest that they recieve no financial aid atall, it,s just that it doesn,t seem to be doing any good. Those adverts on the tell really tug at your heart strings. They always seem to come on at tea time too, Makes me feel guilty as hell.

Actually, you’re wrong there..go and check out the flippant comments on the relevant thread in General Gossip; and while you’re there, consider this quote from the great Mahatma Ghandi:
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man”12 August, 2008 at 11:11 am #361094ok.. fasty beat me to it in the flippancy department .. but i still say it wasnt as cruel at some of the offensive postings on here.
But i will let it lie..
and i pondered the fine words. and i agree. Im sure the great man would have meant starving children in his ” helpless a creature ” too.
12 August, 2008 at 11:25 am #361095It’s the fact that some want people to sling their village on their backs and just move next to water and some seem to think only the children die of starvation Of course agencies use pics of starving children it pulls on the heart strings but the main cause of starvation is probably drought and they cant predict drought and they cant import food during one The crop fails everyone starves not just children they cant feed themselves what difference does it make if they have 1 child or 10.

in that case……..nah. i give up.
12 August, 2008 at 12:02 pm #361097The difference it makes pete is that if they can,t feed themselves, what chance have the children got? They shouldn,t keep churning out kids when they can barely feed and water themselves.
