Government figures released today say that the consumption of alcohol has dropped by 15 percent in the last year. what is the cause of this ? could it be the price of beer getting more and more costly in pubs, or, could it be the smoking ban ? government minister hazel blears actually thinks its because of government education on alcohol [poor deluded fool] so are we staying in more ? of have we all decided to drink at home [as i have] because of the smoking ban.
11 October, 2007 at 11:44 am #290890nah i dont think the smoking ban has had that much of an effect to be honest il put it down to good adverts about the dangers of it on television
and the new licensing laws aswell longer opening hours etc
12 October, 2007 at 3:52 pm #290891This is just typical of this governments lack of a grasp on reality and of the left wings need to try and have one idiotically dumbed down answer for everything no matter how many influencing factors affect the topic
Its like saying “why do people have babies, is it a) accidental pregnancies OR b) planned ones OR c) IVF OR,,,,etc etc
The reason the alcohol sales has dropped as with most things WONT be for one reason, it WILL have been influenced to some extent by the smoking ban, it WILL have been influenced by the massive tax hikes, interest rate hikes and fuel price hikes meaning people just cant afford to go out as much or at all nowadays, it WILL have been affected by people deciding to either go and do their own booze runs to europe or buying their booze off other people who do and it WILL even have been influenced by some people, although I doubt its very many deciding to cut down or stop for health reasons or because of the adverts informing women they are incapable of keeping their knickers on after a few shandies plus dozens of other reasons
Is a lobotomy compulsory now if youre a politician?
