So it would appear that the militant leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq is no more. What do we think the consequences will be?

There is no doubt he was the mastermind and planner behind much of the violence, not only in Iraq but also overseas.

Will there be less violence in Iraq now he has gone? Will it be easy for the insurgents to look up to and accept a new leader? Does this simply highlight the fact that Osama Bin Laden has still not been captured or ‘destroyed’ ?

Osama has been dead for over 2 years now UK – the pics you see on tv are a dummy from Madame Muslimtussauds in Baghdad – with a remote control voice box

He will be seen as a hero who fought for many people, and more people will salute what he stood for.

But certainly not the only one.

    NO.

Will it be easy for the insurgents to look up to and accept a new leader?

No, but thats not the issue our media blag us with. When your fighting a war like such, its kill or be killed. The locals there have a much bigger community spirit than westerners.

The american military will “capture” him when it makes them look good back home.

Definitely a good thing Zarqawi’s been terminated. I don’t think this will stop the violence but it has eliminated a dangerous and nasty man. Some men can exercise great, almost hypnotic power over others through personality alone – he was probably one such but these men are rare. So finding such a deadly replacement might not be so easy.

Also killing Zarqawi indicates to Al Qaeda that its members can be hunted down and possibly the most significant thing here with regard to the future is that insiders within Al Qaeda might have dobbed him in, as it were. We in the west are coming to terms with having an enemy within (islamist extremists) and now Al Qaeda seems to have an ‘enemy within’ too.

Really- even your standing has taken a dive calling Al Zaqwari and a “hero for many and more people will salute what he stood for”

Al Zaqwari was an evil, butcherous excuse of human life- his view of Islam was Sunni based and he called for the deaths of all Shia’s- he had no interest in anything other than perpetuating discord and mayhem- very, very few Iraqi’s supported him or his views

Even your beloved George Galloway called the assasination of Al Zaqwari “morally justified”- just because the current war in Iraq is wrong doesnt make Al Zaqwari a “hero”

There is no doubt he was the mastermind and planner behind much of the violence, not only in Iraq but also overseas.

But certainly not the only one.

Did Chat say that he was the only one?

Its the truth, what are you afraid of?

Al Zaqwari was an evil, butcherous excuse of human life

This is a really complex statement to answer.
    A, yes he is.
B, he defended his way of life from an ilegal and foreign invasion, even though he was a foreigner in iraq also.
C, the people who he did defend, love him, and theres many of them.
D, he is classed as a “terrorist” by terrorists (the coalition).

Personally, i think he was less evil than the coalition in terms of the war.

his view of Islam was Sunni based and he called for the deaths of all Shia’s- he had no interest in anything other than perpetuating discord and mayhem- very, very few Iraqi’s supported him or his views

Is that an educated guess, based on what? The media? What the coalition told you? mixture of the 2?

    Even your beloved George Galloway

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I DO NOT love gg. I do like individuals telling the great unwashed, the truth about how our society is run, thats what gg does to a degree.

Apparently he took an hour to die. I hope he managed to contemplate the pros and cons of martyrdom as he suffered his well-deserved final agonies.

He is thought to have personally killed some of the western hostages but he was also responsible for the deaths of thousands of muslims in Iraq.

Who said that? GO and stand in the corner!

When you think about, here was a man, who was shunned by the Iraqi leader, yet went to help the Iraqi people to fight against the Western terrorist invasion and destruction of their country, who gave his life for others in desperare need, to rid their country of invaders and killers. 8)

All his life was dedicated to fighting Western aggression and terrorism, :!:

All his life was dedicated to fighting Western aggression and terrorism,

    His words or yours?

Killing muslims in Iraq and in his home country of Jordan strikes me as a very odd way of fighting ‘Western aggression and terrorism’. More like he was carrying on Saddam Hussein’s work of victimising Shia majority (who are backed by Iran, no friend of the west) although in the name of his brand of Islam rather than Saddam’s Ba’athist vision of ‘Greater Iraq’.
