Im dreading the european matches…..
19 January, 2008 at 12:37 am #304986but seriously.
The gooners take all this criticism for not fielding enough English players.
But could you find a more English Club ?Refer Chelsea/Russian Mafia or Liverpool and Man Utd both American owned.
Meanwhile under the Hillwood’s share lock-down we are resistant to foreign take overs for another two years. And that takes care of the Big Four. What about the very English way the club is run ?Is it even legal to field an only-English team under current legislation ? Has anyone got any idea of the young players coming through our ranks and getting the best football education possible ? Wenger says that two of our (English) 14 year olds have nothing more to learn technically. Other youngsters have already been snapped up by Premiership sides at that age, forcing the Arsenal to expand their recruitment to 8 and 9 year olds.
There are plenty of quality players like Sidwell, Bentley, etc plying their Premiership trade on an Arsenal upbringing, even if they weren’t considered good enough to make the grade for our first team. And add Cole and Campbell to that too.
.
Meanwhile look at the football consistently played and how it is played on the park. For mostly English supporters.Wot a lot of crap gets sprouted.

Its bloody hard being perfect and having to justify it all the time.
Im one very proud Gooner.

19 January, 2008 at 3:35 pm #304993Dunno bout brilliant, lucky more like,Ever since George *Bung* Graham scored that goal he still doesnt know he scored in 1971 cup final.
8 April, 2008 at 8:50 pm #304994These youngsters have fought so hard this season.
Led the Premiership until just a few weeks ago, were soooo close to the CL semis, great performance when knocking out the holders Milan. Even the reserves nearly made it in the other competition but I forget who won that.
Walcott’s career is about to explode……..and no team scores as many late goals as the gooners.
Watch this team grow with all the admiration you can muster……………..
(and Matty – respect……..looks like you were right this year)
