I see your point and I agree. I suppose because AIDS / HIV is treatable these days it’s not seen as such a big deal.

It’s treatable if detected early enough, but how many people go for the test?
If you’re in a high-risk group, maybe you’ll be more inclined to go for a test, but then again maybe you would prefer to ignore it.
If you’re pregnant you’ll be offered the test and it seems a lot of mums-to-be are taking it which can only be a good thing.
But otherwise, how likely are you to go and get tested? By the time you see any symptoms it’s already quite advanced.

I wonder how many here have been tested? I’ll put my hand up and say I have.

I’m glad that pregnant women are offered the test…………..I asked if I could be tested in 1990 at my local hospital during a routine antenatal visit and I was refused.

believe it or not on the tv they were saying that the highest incidence of new cases in this country is among the 40 to 50 somethings and are hetrosexual (54%), they speculated that this was due to relationship break ups and new relationships, affairs and the fact that post menopause women do not see the need for protection from pregnancy and ignore the diseases… their view not mine! They also said that alcohol plays a huge part… concerns for your safety go out the window after a beer or 2
