Proof Terry reads the Daily Mail!
And what is that supposed to mean..?
Well, Terry dear boy, you have admitted you read the Daily Mail.
And as Martin has decided to re-direct your link to the source of the original pic, then I guess that means you’ve been rumbled.
And your point is what exactly..? :-k

9 June, 2012 at 9:47 am #498529Interesting article.
The picture does not, as the Daily Mail claims, show that the pupils that speak English as their first language are a tiny minority; what the picture shows is a cross section of some of the languages spoken at the school with at least one pupil to represent each language. However the article is more interesting than the photo…what a shame we didn’t see that before as this discussion might have been quite different.
Despite the challenges facing teachers, the diversity appears to have improved results at the school in Sparkhill.
New head Evelyn Harper attributes top SATs scores to the value many of the pupils’ home cultures place on learning. So the diversity, far from being detrimental, has been good for the school.
The majority of pupils come from a Pakistani background and the most common first languages spoken are Urdu and Mirpuri
So how would opting out of the EU and sending all the European immigrants home help save the country?
English Martyrs, which recently celebrated its centenary, has moved from having a mainly Irish Catholic roll from the 1950s and 60s through to a majority of pupils from a Pakistani background today.
So it’s quite possible that there has never been an English majority at this school.
‘I only came here seven weeks ago, but already I can’t believe the respect that parents and children show teachers and the teaching profession that maybe isn’t there from white indigenous cultures.
‘Parents really care for their children, they want them to do better and for that reason our results are very, very high.’A friend of mine who was a teacher specialising in “troublesome children” always says “Working with the child is not enough; give me the parents for a few weeks, let me teach them and the children will turn around.” Maybe the non-indigenous parents will be a positive influence on the indigenous by example rather than being the disaster waiting to bring this country to its knees.
