Can someone love life more than anything in the world, but still hold the desire to die?
I haven’t beat around the bush here, i have asked a question out right. I am not asking you to go through my experiences, answer the question from your own.
and please put a smile at the end of it, cos i have put a smile at the end of this sour question :D

Simple answer: yes
29 July, 2007 at 11:45 am #280565i’m looking forward to dieing, only till i have experianced life though, i don’t want to be one of those people who live till i’m 80, spending 10 years or so just sitting in my chair watching telly

I think you’re doing a great injustice to people..elderly or otherwise, Matty..for whom the physical restraints of age or ill-health bring experiences every iota as valid as your own (presumably)active ones. The soul and the spirit don’t necessarily change on becoming encased in sinew and skin raddled by sickness and/or time, and a life spent even in solitary contemplation is as real as one spent abseiling down mountains with a pack of robust companions.
I hope you never have occasion to frantically cling to a life that is steadily being drained out of you, Matty; eager for every sunrise and every morning chorus.29 July, 2007 at 5:43 pm #280567@esmeralda wrote:

, i repeat, i don’t want to spend 10 or so years just wasting awayMe neither. We all envisage old age with negatives, but it is not always the case. The scariest thing is having nobody to look after you, nobody to love you.
It wouldnt happen to a baby so why is it allowed to happen to old people?
Me? Im gonna be a grumpy old sow lol. Im gonna confiscate every ball that comes over my garden and be the one who causes all the trouble lol!!!
Not really. Im gonna sit and knit and keep me gob shut  8) And If ive got the internet Im gonna be a troll lol!!

And as ever..you’re missing the point, shortarse! Old age doesn’t mean life experience is less precious, or should be mocked. The general disregard for the elderly in this country, is shameful.

Matty has given HIS point of view about how HE would like HIS life to be. Who are you to tell him otherwise? He didn’t mock anybody and certainly never asked for you to dictate to him on the general disregard of the elderly. If anybody is missing the point I feel it is your good self.
And I know it has always been difficult for you to control that nagging Scottish temper of yours but do try and refrain from the personal insults in your replies. A woman of your advancing years should have a little more restraint don’t you think.
