Maybe you should just keep your money in your own pocket. Giving it to an African charity is supporting theft and gross corruption – it will only line the pockets of some corrupt tin pot dictator anyway. What’s the point….. what they don’t take, they steal. In a very short while they’ll all be dead from AIDS anyway.
thats a very generalised sweeping statement PB……and i am somewhat a little surprised that some so called intelligent human beings think like this ….dont get me wrong there is corruption and ‘tin pot’ dicators in charge wehre they shouldnt be in charge, but there are also some very determined people who wil break wot seems to be the norm in africa …..abject poverty , aids etc…….it only takes one PB and i am sure that there are some very determined individuals in africa who will not die of aids………and will lead the way for others to follow and become self sufficient human beings….
the thing is PB as u know ……the way of life in africa is very different to our way of living, if u dont get an education then u have no hope……..PB i cant save the world but i am doin my best in my own little corner of it and if everyone did there bit in there own little corner then life would be better for all concerned……..
i sure hope that everyone in africa does not die of aids PB……….and i think u are out of order with that remark………but hey thats wot its all about aint it free speech…… i just wish that people who use there right fer free speech put there brain into gear b4 openin gob !!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrr

22 June, 2006 at 12:34 am #226363Cath – bless your little charitable heart hun. But sadly I fear that your kindness is misplaced.
I can think of no single country in the entire African continent where corruption isn’t a daily way of life. For them it is a normal as it is for us to make a cup of tea. Giving them money to ”help feed the poor” is simply an utter waste of time and effort as it will simply go straight into the pockets of the tribal rulers or alternatively be used to purchase arms so that they can carry on killing each other in ever increasing numbers.
Also and whether you and I like it or not, the plain fact is that HIV/AIDS is now endemic in Africa and is steadily killing off the population. Frankly if is wasn’t this killing them, then it would be either starvation or bloody civil war.
Over the next few years the population of this continent will be drastically reduced. OK there will still be huge numbers that survive but nevertheless we are looking at several million who won’t.
Under these circumstances it seems pointless to me to carry on as if nothing is the problem and year on year sending over thousands of tons of Western aid so that the greedy few can steal it and deprive the starving masses.

In places where there have been droughts or famines, the problem is not large families the problem is that the governments don’t have the infrastructure or resources to deal with food shortages.
Governments are a problem, but many mouths keep the starving starved.
You can’t solve that problem with condoms and aid deliveries are only a short-term solution too.
Whilst we live in paradise, it is a must to help in any way.
The long-term solution is to create an environment in which countries will be able to prosper and then they will be able to solve all their internal problems. Africa is rich in natural resources and given time and the right economic and political conditions, Africa will inevitably become a wealthy continent.
Sometimes i wonder if its better for the globalised world to keep poor people poor.

:-s I thought we lived in a multi-cultural cesspit? Is it a multi-cultural cesspit paradise?

“Governments are a problem, but many mouths keep the starving starved.”
“Whilst we live in paradise, it is a must to help in any way.”
“I wonder if its better for the globalised world to keep poor people poor.”
They are as meaningless as they are platitudinous. BTW what the heck is a ”globalised world”??? It sounds deeply significant but what does it actually mean ffs???
