Re: ‘teaching them not to breed so much’ – that goes for all societies and cultures including our own – The world needs a population policy as the ‘population explosion’ that was predicted in the 60’s and 70’s but didn’t happen is on the cards again, only a few decades later.

A first step would be to stop people from guilting couples who don’t want children into having them.

Now I know I have been enlightened by Mr Bigstuff

The problems in Africa are all down to the USA

How much more anti-USA c rap can this man spout

Drivel, yeah the USA had nothing to do with Africa except for slavery, overthrowing elected governments, propping up dictators like colonel mobutu, etc. I guess the USA also has nothing to do with the IMF or world bank or WTO. And I guess it must have been a different George Bush who opposed a treaty restricting the sale of small arms.

As I said before, colonialism and the cold war in Africa only ended within the last couple of decades and the Angolan civil war only ended a few years ago. Also the Mobutu regime in congo only ended not that long ago. Apartheid ended about a decade ago. So African countries have had so many obstacles to overcome and it will take time for them to prosper again. Rome wasn’t built in a day and Africa had great centres of civilization such as Egypt, Carthage, Mauritania and Kush. African nations prospered in the past and given time and the right circumstances they will prosper again.

As for aids, it goes back to the issue of poverty. You can’t provide the necessary levels of education and healthcare because the money’s not there. As for the idiotic idea that nature is solving a problem through aids it follows then that Europeans and Americans will be wiped out by nature because they are responsible for the most killing and environmental destruction e.g. Hiroshima, the gulags, the concentration camps, the slave-trade, the conquistadores, exxon valdez, union carbide, and other environmental damage.

You can’t use Nigeria as the example for all of Africa, that’s like using corruption in Italy to explain corruption in europe. Anyway, whenever the 3rd world produces a figure like Castro or Chavez or Allende or Mossadeq or Arbenz or Nkrumah or Lumumba who wants to implement a socialist agenda for the well-being of their people the rich countries try to overthrow them. Rampant free market economics is not the best policy for countries ridden with poverty. It also encourages a climate of greed. Anyway, aid can be passed through NGOs to avoid corrupt officials.

Family size has nothing to do with the issue, it’s normal in Africa and Asia to have large families. It’s not as if there’s a famine across the entire continent of Africa and it’s not as if every single African lives in abject poverty. More kids provide a strong family unit and more breadwinners. In Africa and Asia there is far more emphasis placed on the idea of family. The family unit is much stronger in Africa and Asia than it is in Europe and America and while you’re seeing a disintegration of the family unit and the concept of marriage in wealthy nations, these ideas are still strong in Africa and Asia.

    whatever the reason
    people are starving
in the 21st century people shouldn’t be starving anywhere
as for the birth rate what else are they going to do
sex is the only thing they have thats free
i wouldn’t enter into a debate with a self righteous street collector
    just say no
goverments alone can end poverty not you or me
live 8 was a good idea in principle
except multi millionaires preaching about poverty is a bit rich (pun intented)

i cant belive im going to say this..

    but well said kevin.

    =D> =D> =D>

i totally agree with you on the live 8 thing. good idea, but made me sick at the taught of it.
then ther were adds on the tv, with 8 pr 9 filim/pop stars, clicking ther fingers, saying every second one person dies from poverty.???

    that maid me so angry.
there they were on tv…begging people to give there hard earned cash to poverty…when they spend thousands every day on new trainers, expensive food, hand made clothes, ect ect.

just imagine the difference it could make, if every wealthy music and film star in the world gave 1 million pound to help fight poverty.??????
can you imagine the difference that would make.

i realy wish they would do that instead of goin on tv and begging every body else to give to charity.

Also, i want our government to stop raping the african nations of their best doctors and nurses.

    Why Emma?

Out of genuine concern for the plunder we are doing and the dreadful vacuum it is creating in those very countries who are in most need of those skills?

Or out of hypocrisy …. After all, the multicultural society hasn’t worked, has it!

Its both. But its mainly for the destitute africans, they need them more, but hey, we live in a globalistic, pull the ladder up jack and sod the rest, society.

    :(

If we raise money for destitute africans, they will eat, they will live, and they will breed, but that wont reduce their poverty.

If we put pressure on christian leaders to stop telling them they must not use contraception, and use some of our financial help to educate these poor people into not having babies so much, then this time next year, THEY will reap the benefits of that, because they’ll be LESS mouths to feed, and MORE food those who are still alive.

………..Or if we simply let them die from the AIDS epidemic sweeping the continent right now, the survivors will reap the benefits of that, because they’ll be LESS mouths to feed, and MORE food those who are still alive.
