I would say my post was pretty conclusive and one sided but feel free to disagree-
If you find you can’t say anything without being labelled a racist or homophobic, perhaps you should look at what you’re saying (conclusive enough for you!)- assimilation is a two way street- if you expect people to adapt to “our way of life”- try and meet them half way, and learn theirs too- we’ve just had a Polish shop open up not far from me, first in the whole city….and guess what, my world didnt end because of it.
Mosques harbouring Britain hating terrorists, Catholic churches harbouring Britain hating terrorists! No difference- different decade, different church, same hatred.
You prove my point – the fact that I don’t agree with your opinions then you would label me .
I disagree with assimilation – it’s not 2 way at all – you have to assimilate to the country you move to – not the other way round
It was St Georges day yesterday for what publicity it got !!!
What’s your point about a Polish shop – we have loads of shops run by different nationalities here . No one has got any argument against folks coming here , and working for a living , contributing to society and the economy – that’s fine no problem – just don’t complain about me eating bacon for breakfast , celebrating Christmas or reading nursery rhymes to my kids

Your point was I am inconclusive, my point was I am not.
You confuse immigration and multiculturalism with barmy left wing laws- the people who want to call Christmas “winter festvities”, the people who want to remove “BC” from museum labels, the people who want to change nursery rhymes have so/d all to do with minorties, immigrants or creeds.- its to do with left wing jobsworths with nothing better to do than think up barking by laws. When people stop adding racial connotations to issues where race is not an issue for those who are in the minority, we will see some real progress.
I will carry on reading bah bah black sheep to my kids, carry on with my bacon and eggs and carry on celebrating christmas, easter, halloween, Bonfire night (just so we can celebrating burning some catholics), and all the rest. And I won’t blame any minority for bloo/dy stupid laws, I’ll blame whichever f/uckwit tries to introduce them.
24 April, 2006 at 9:54 pm #209825People often talk about Christmas and St George’s day and the christian faith in their rants against multiculturalism, but where is the Christianity in the policy of the far-right??? You can’t be a BNP supporter and a real Christian because the 2 ideologies are mutually exclusive. Christianity doesn’t care about what country you come from or what language you speak or what colour your skin is. Judging people by those backward criteria is ungodly and the antithesis of Christian doctrine. In case you forgot, St George was an asiatic foreigner. Richard the Lionheart too was a foreigner who spoke hardly any english and wasn’t too fond of this country.

People like Emma who think white people are all Jew-hating Christians and all black people are christian-hating Muslims really need to get a reality check.
Religion is blind when it comes to colour.
When did i say that oh great mighty one?
I wonder how tolerant the christians are of islam, in the way that islam could force sharia law in this “christian” country.

I have read a lot of your posts , they are well constructed , and obviously from an intelligent source – but they are anything but conclusive !!!
As far as adding racial connotations to issues – can’t you see that it’s you that does that – at any comment you immediately go on the offensive .
I know that a lot of the extreme views are from a rsehole left wingers – but they are doing it – to defend minorities rightly or wrongly – and it seems to be the pc thing to follow those trends – that is what gets a lot of ordinary peoples backs up
I am not confusing multiculturalism and immigration with anything – don’t imply that I am
I won’t get personal on the boards – I try not to – but other people have views apart from you25 April, 2006 at 12:52 pm #209828But thats the whole point of the serious threads- to observe and challenge other views, and that includes mine. I have my views and am happy for any one to challenge them, if not I wouldn’t post them
Adding racial connotations etc was aimed predominantly and generically at those who make our bye laws and rules who see race/creed etc as an issue (i.e. Christmas into “winter festivities”) rather than at you as an individual- you, like me, are continually amazed at the lengths people (we’ll call them the PC brigade) go to when trying to ensure no one of any colour, creed etc is offended by what we do. I just don’t happen to see that it’s any fault of British muslims that museums are removing the letters “BC” from dates on labels, they havent asked for it to be done- it’s the fault of the museum board and curator for being so incredibly foolish.
As ive said before on here, I will defend anything if I perceive prejudice, of any colour, of any creed and of any sex- but that is my perception and again, if I didn’t expect it to be challenged, I wouldn’t post.

I don’t know enough about it so feel i’m not able to make a constructive comment, other really than to say that i’d like one of you to pick up on this one. Iv’e not been one to agree with Emma in the past but she does have a point here. And………….. it wasn’t these pc people with nothing better to do who thought that one up :roll:26 April, 2006 at 9:33 pm #209830@cas wrote:

I am at a loss to understand where the “sharia law forced in the Uk” comes from. Just because some British Muslims want sharia law here ( a minority according to opinion polls) doesn’t mean it will ever happen, and how can they “force” it. Just as repatriation of everyone who isn’t lilly white won’t ever happen either (just cos the BNP say it should).
