I was offered first refusal to light the flame @ acs!!! (don’t think I didn’t read your comment on page 2! :D ), I thought Stevie boy would do a better job!

As for the French bit, it annoyed me too, but the Chairman of the Olympic Committee is French – c’est la vie eh?!

Have to say, proud to be British here in France!

I saw the highlights on the news this morning…

didn’t watch it..not my scene…Danny Boyle etc not my scene either…glad it was enjoyed, but also glad that we live in a free country (as yet) and we don’t have to watch if we don’t want to (as yet).

Saw the maypole dancing and industrial workers looking suitably poor at their work – my dad used to work like that, though from my memories of his moaning the routine toil lasted more than a couple of minutes.

Did they have bankers dancing round maypoles to illustrate modern Britain, or large numbers of people talking to each other by tapping in messages over their PC? Or multiple versions of the Royle Family watchng the Olympic openng ceremonies on the box, with one or two cantankerous recalcitrants like John Telboy and me doing something else?

And Stands the Church clock at ten to three? And is there honey still for tea? –

I loved it too anc, I hope people in other countries got it though… the industrial revolution and the NHS etc… but I expect their TV commentator’s will have been well briefed to explain it… hope so anyway. All in all it was wonderful… Im looking forward to the rest of the games now

    Good Luck Team GB

Good point Mrs T – we were discussing that last night – Mr anc is going to the local bars to explain who Mr Bean is!!!! (any excuse eh?!!!)

Maybe they should’ve done an insert of illegal immigrants crawling out the backs of lorries as they arrived in the UK. And then helicopters in the skies with cameras trying to pick out muslims with rucksacks waiting at bus stops.

I apologise for being a wet blanket, but after reading these boards I have been reduced to a cultural and intellectual wreck by people that post here.

Panda has an answer for everything and Wordsworth thinks he does. That’s a typical taxi driver for you though.

As for jen_jen – I haven’t been the same since she did the flake eating thing.

Let’s face it we all love a woman that moans and there are none better than panda and jen for that. What they don’t seem to understand is that they should stick to moaning in the bedroom rather than bring it all here.

Terry, just 4 posts in! Brilliant! But I have to tell you, the foursome is out of the question! It’s not even an Olympic event!

Haven’t watched the ceremony yet, I was at a wedding (no DJ, so it couldn’t have been the one acs was at.

I understand Sir Paul was a bit embarrassing and, and the fireworks were magnificent, you could see them and feel the vibrations from my house!

Well, he’s 70 years old and sounds like one too.
McCartney has so many ‘yes’ men around him telling him how great he is that he doesn’t actually realise he isn’t any more. I’m a fan of his facebook page and am just amazed at how many sycophants post on there in support of him. Nobody has the nerve to tell him to retire.
