I heard the receptionist telling someone that the doctor they wanted to see didn’t have any appts until February.
3 weeks to get an appt is ridiculous you’d either be dead or cured by then ffs17 January, 2016 at 10:39 pm #983096Well here’s a thing .. in today’s society “yourGP” is usually one of many GP’s in a practice.
To my mind if you really are that ill you need a doctor you will see any GP.
The days of seeing your own GP at the drop of the hat are sadly gone.
Thank the government for that. They have made it near on impossible for the “personal touch” to be maintained .
So the moral of the story is for routine appointments book in advance & if you are that ill you need a Doctor you’ll see anyone. The NHS is not perfect but if you NEED treatment it’s there & it’s free .

18 January, 2016 at 1:49 pm #983151Don’t start me off on doctors appointments. At our useless surgery, ALL the partners have left. So now it’s full of,locums What bloody good is that? Yes it’s a doctor, but your gonna end up seeing a different doctor each time, that’s providing you can get a damn appointment in the first, place!
Had an growing toenail, (sorry to be gross) . No,point even trying to see the doc or a nurse. Can’t get in for at least 2 weeks anyway, and that’s if you can get through! Oh you can always ring on the day they say, but,you can’t get through, and when you do, there’s no appointments available. !
Sorted it out myself. By the time I’d have got the damn docs, and then waited for a referral to someone, ,y foot would have dropped off. Useless.18 January, 2016 at 2:44 pm #983172Don’t start me off on doctors appointments. At our useless surgery, ALL the partners have left. So now it’s full of,locums What bloody good is that? Have you windered why you can’t get an appointment for your ingrowing toenail?? Perhaps a previous doctor took a look and spread the word that once seen, Tinsel’s toenail can never be unseen again.
Please, please, please spare us the details of how you dealt with it yourself
18 January, 2016 at 3:23 pm #983175Hahahahaha, nice one lol. I’ve never shown it to a doctor before for that very reason lol.
As for how I dealt with it…. Well…….would you like pictures?18 January, 2016 at 9:21 pm #983204Only if they’re colour
18 January, 2016 at 10:27 pm #983223I must admit, I’ve never had a problem getting a GP appointment at the surgery I attend. They operate a triage system where you phone in and a doctor calls you back. If you need an appointment he’ll make on with you either for that day or the following one.
I don’t see the same doctor all the time but as long as I get to see one I don’t really care who it is.
20 January, 2016 at 11:51 am #983384I can get an appt to see a Dr on the same day. Not always my Dr-as she seems to have been on leave for over a year now. I would say that to Bow that I won’t always see a Dr even if I need it. There is one Dr there who is useless and I’m not a fan of wasting my time. The rest are good though
20 January, 2016 at 9:02 pm #983411Normally get a doctor’s appointment as soon as you want it over here. Of course, you pay for the privilege….
