FFS when will some parents ever learn, NOT to leave their kids alone at home, whilst they go away? Just look what happend. Serves em right, it,s their own stupid fault. And judging by most of the comments, I,m not the only one who thinks so.

1 March, 2008 at 4:25 pm #315208Legally you can leave your child at home when they’re 13..I have done this myself.. though only ever for an hour or two whilst I’m still at work or when she doesn’t want to come shopping with me…Doesn’t make me a bad parent. Just goes to show that some kids cant be trusted.i’m one of the lucky ones
1 March, 2008 at 4:59 pm #315209I made mine go to work and do all the shopping from the age of seven, and I’ve been fairly safe on my own.
1 March, 2008 at 5:28 pm #315210I’m not sure there is a legal age in the UK but you do have to be 14 to be allowed to baby sit other children. If it is deemed you are old enough to be responsible for someones house and children at 14, why would’nt you trust a 15 year old at home alone i suppose .
At the end of the day if she was 16 say a month later, legally able to work pay taxes and live alone, you wouldn’t question it, it’s a tough call to make.
Apparently she was a bright girl at school so not stupid, and should be made to take responsibility for her actions and disciplined sufficiently for such a lack of respect to her parents and their belongings. Yes maybe on reflection the parents made an error of judgement trusting this stupid girl but when do u cut the apron strings and allow our young adults to flee the nest and make decisions for them selves ? And when these decisions are wrong as with an adult who trashed someone elses property they would be legally charged for it she should be made to realise the consequences, and yes ok you wont trust her again for a while, but 1 day you are not going to have this hold over ur childrens actions. Let them breathe , teach them respect and they will know what is right and wrong yes they will make mistakes, don’t we all but let them grow up and make and learn from them.
This particular girl is round a friends house and wont come home, she needs dragging home by her ear hole being made to clean the place up and get a part time job to repay for the cost of the damages, it would be a lifes lesson well learnt, but of course we are not allowed to do that are we :roll:2 March, 2008 at 4:02 am #315211I thought u had to be 16 to babysit… may be wrong, I certainly wouldnt leave my kids even when they were 18, as nae chance they gettin a chance to mis-behave if they wish to throw parties they can move into their own places…
3 March, 2008 at 12:51 pm #315212parents who give teens free reign in the house wile they go away deserve all they get. my two are 22 and 18 and i wont even leave them at home alone. if we want a weekend away i get a friend to house sit so they dont go wild and destroy my home. stupid people have stupid kids and these two vere very stupid.
