My mum has a great way of dealing with people who post junk mail, its called a jack russell. Not only does she attack anyone who puts their hand through the letter box, she also snatches the leaflet from their hand before they’ve even got if halfway through the letterbox and rips it to shreds :P

Of course this does have a downside, the neighbours who posted xmas cards had a bit of a shock

i have to wonder if she would have done the same i it had been a terraced house in a working class area. i doubt it. opertunity came a knocking. [or in her case while she went a knockin] and shes simply jumpimg on the sue em all gravy train that our government love so much. i wonder if she can prove that she did a risk assessment before entering the property. ? i wonder if she filled in a r.i.d.d.o.r report, and filed it within the required 72 hours, was she insured for public liability when she began her postie career, and most important of all, has she found out wether this poor fella actually owns the property ? he could be renting ? in which case shes wasting OUR money chasing this stupid case. [im presuming shes been given legal aid.] because if she hasnt it could be very costly to her. greedy selfish cow.

She does have a valid case and will get about 100k for this.

It’s the same law that stops us all from “booby trapping” ageist burglars.

Basically the “junk mail” issue is not point of the case, all occupiers of buildings or flats must insure that their premises are safe for anyone visiting or using them.

    In this case it wasn’t.

He homeowner is at fault; he did install a dangerous letterbox.

They’re no different in law between a dangerous letter box and electrifying your fence with 10,000 volts, they are both a hazier.

This man is probably going to lose his home over this and his only recourse is to sue the installer and makers of the letter box.

I would say to any home own, look at your home insurant policy and make sure your cover for this kind of problem.
