Do you remember who played Billy’s mum in the film?

8 March, 2008 at 12:00 am #312518But Kes is a Barnsley film, yeah I know they imported foreigners like ivy and brian glover (no not R Brian) with their strange Rotherham + Sheffield accents, but those who know know that it’s truly a Barnsley film.
I kid you not. Must be a few members from those parts who will remember the different accents in those days.
Was quite an experience watching that one growing up. Brian Glover played that linesman, referee, bobby charlton figure so fecking well.
and the lad waiting for his caning ? brings back memories.
I know Ken Loach isn’t everyone’s cup of tetley but that film truly shows what the great british education system was really like in them days.
Met that professional ITV wrestler Glover once, doing repeat sprints at the athletics track at Battersea Park – good geezer.

Correct!!
Yes, it’s a Barnsley film alright.
I watched it with my dad years ago. He’d wanted to go down the pub that night but I told him he’d be missing a treat if he went.
When my mum got home he was raving to her about it.
Is Barnsley far from Chapeltown? I sort of remember the area from years ago during my time on mucking out the stables during my apprenticeship on Emmerdale.8 March, 2008 at 12:22 pm #312520@sir Actor wrote:
