My gran is 80 next week. Doesnt want anything, doesnt need anything. Thats great, but makes it extremely hard to buy her a nice “special” present!

She likes shopping, watching telly, gossiping, washing and cleaning.

We are taking her out for a nice meal at tea time because even though she is fitter than a fiddle she is diabetic and likes to eat at regular times.

But what gift can I get her? Any ideas greatfully received. 8)

When my great aunt turned 80 she got a visit from my aunt, we didn’t appreciate it but she did. So – find a relative nobody likes and send them

hmmmm thats hard, she only had two children and apart from my mum the other lives in Thailand and he was over in summer, it would cost a fortune to get him back so soon, and I never put the euro lotto on so that wont be happening!

Her own sister annoys the hell out of her so much so that last time she visited my gran was relieved when she went home! Too alike.

Thanks for the idea though, any more then do post.

There’s a site called lastminute.com or something like that, I used it to get my dad that ‘buy a share in a football club’ for christmas one year. They have some good gift ideas.

    Audio books:
Family Affairs: A History of the Family in 20th Century Britain By Mary Abbott
Women in Twentieth-century Britain By Ina Zweiniger-Bargielowska
Work and Pay in 20th Century Britain By Nicholas Crafts

Bring back some memories for her.

She does love telling me old stories about her youth in Northern Ireland before moving to Scotland so that may be worth a look = thanks nanny 8)

lol… the hair is a bit thinning now…. wouldnt want her losing what she has!

Now you’ve said that Dee I have a couple of pics from when my Uncle came over in the summer of all of us together in the garden, but Im not sure the quality is great. But then again does that really matter? We are all in it looking like a bunch of dysfunctionals so it could work

Trust me, go with the album, you’ll get the most brownie points and it’ll cost the least…go right through the eras/family members and you’ll be in the will 8)
