Multi millionaire Sir Richard Branson said he would be donating £100,000 to the McCanns’ legal costs because he “trusted them implicitly” and wanted to ensure they had a fair trial if they were brought before a Portuguese court.

Sir Richard, who has spoken to the parents of missing Madeleine McCann on several occasions, said: “I wouldn’t have got involved if I didn’t feel good about them. I trust them implicitly and I can’t think of anyone I know who’s had a worse time.”Explaining his decision, the entrepreneur and social campaigner, said: “I think they need proper representation and support.”
He added: “I want to make sure they have the chance for their side of the story to be fairly told if they ever go to court, particularly in Portugal where they’ve already been tried by innuendo in the media.
“It’s going to be tough for them to get a fair trial and they need all the help they can get.”
Sir Richard confirmed he was in talks with other wealthy people to encourage them to contribute to a legal fund as well, and said at least one other anonymous donor was signed up already.
“I’m speaking to several people and hopefully there’ll be others helping with the legal costs,” he said. “One or two have already committed on an off-the-record basis.”
Meanwhile, Kate McCann could be reinterviewed this week by British police acting on behalf of the Portuguese authorities, fresh reports suggest.
Kate and Gerry McCann’s lawyers issued a statement saying they had received no request for new questioning “to date”.
But for a third day, Portuguese newspapers reported that police and prosecutors in the Algarve planned to ask their British counterparts to quiz Mrs McCann for them.
You would of thought with all the sharks he has come across in his business dealings he would be able to spot fraudster a mile off, he might be the owner of virgin brand, but he is gonna get well and truely fcked on this one.
He already dropped a clanger letting NTL rebrand under the virgin name which has damaged the virgin name.Egg on ya face richy son.

17 September, 2007 at 5:12 pm #287866Richard Branson has been bucking the trend of public and media opinion ever since he signed the Sex Pistols. He has the foresight to see through all the media hype and judge situations on the facts rather than the gossip and has made a tidy profit out of showing these people up for what they are.
Maybe he should buy a share in this place and make a few posts. It wouldnt be long before he had the JC sheep eating from his hand and applauding him for a job well done.17 September, 2007 at 7:08 pm #287867So the ‘grinning pullover’ is throwing good money after bad.
A fool and his money are easily parted.

Yeah, this is the same shrewd judge of character that thought his charisma and none profit making approach would secure him the lottery contract without the need to give bribes, the man who believed officials when they told him he would have his virgin railways franchises renewed without having to up his bid so he invested in more trains 6 months before the same officials gave several of his lines to higher bidders (lets pretend no bribes were given eh?)
Yes he has made a fortune, but as with most people who have made a fortune he isnt without many and massive mistakes and errors in judgement
Most millionaires have quite literally “failed their way to the top” as the real way to make a success is to keep trying no matter how many times you fail miserably whereas the majority will quit after a few quite minor failures
So someone being “loaded” isnt a sign they are infallible, if you read a few “successful” peoples memoirs and biographies you will see they usually have a long line of complete cock ups behind them, larger and more numerous than most people cummulate in a lifetime, but they just werent deterred by them

looks down on sir richard branson, bet he wishes he was you17 September, 2007 at 8:48 pm #287872OMG lol
Lobotomised retards must look down on you then if you think thats “looking down” on someone
Since when has a statement of fact been either negative or positive? And even more intriguingly when as I DID point out, when its actually stated by the person themselves to begin with
You will struggle to find a single “success” who hasnt failed repeatedly on their way to that success, its part of the process majoratively. a process most people wimp out of after a few failures hence why only a very small percentage of people ever attain any degree of massive accomplishment
Wanting to feel as tho you have a reason to be able to “look down” on people seems more up your alley really ROTT, but no matter how much you might try to dim someone elses light it doesnt make yours shine any brighter, it just feels like it does for a short time
