Hi, I have just installed Java Version 6, Update 2, because I was having problems stayin in chat. I kept getting booted out. Someone said it might help.
It didn’t help! Also, now, the font in chatroom and pc boxes has changed. I can’t read it so easily and don’t know how to change that back. It’s going to ruin my chat experience, lol.
Oh and another thing, I was in pc with a mate (female..nothing dodgy)…and it kept refreshing on me so I was losing parts of the conversation. Most annoying.
How can I get back to how it was? Would it be safe to uninstall the new version without messing the old one up??
eeeek help please anyone.
Techie stuff scares me, lol

17 July, 2007 at 2:52 pm #277934Fay … if you are using Windows XP you can use the ”system restore” facility to restore your computer to the state it was in before you installed this Java updateed version.
Go to ‘START’ > ‘HELP AND SUPPORT’ > then, when the Help and Support Center screen loads up, under the heading ”Pick a Task” left click on the third one down called ”Undo changes to your computer with System Restore.”
When the ‘Welcome to System Restore’ screen pops up, make sure that the green blob (radio button) is next to the line called ”restore my computer to an earlier time”. (This is the top one of the two options.
LEFT click on ”Next” and you will be taken to the system restore page called ”Select a Restore Point”. Read the instructions on this page carefully ….. but what you do is to select a date from the calendar of dates BEFORE you installed this Java update.
LEFT click on ”Next”.. and your computer will restore itself (by going backwards in time) to the date that you have selected. Remember that anything you installed etc AFTER the selected date will be lost(including the Java update).
Let us all know how you get on.
