In our lives we have seen so much drama
Experiencing alot of unspeakable trauma.
By those close to us we’ve been hurt
Dealing with things on our own because no one offered comfort.

People only saw the scars left behind
Opinions of us they all ready formed in their mind.
They never tried to understand what we had been through
Instead they chose to believe about us things that were untrue.

Others judged us based on our past
Banning us to live the life of an outcast.
The aftermath of our abuse we faced on our own
Since no one believed us, we stood alone.

Our stories were regarded as nothing but a lie
Everything that happened our abusers would only deny.
Having nowhere to go, we locked our feelings inside
Sometimes wishing that from the world we could hide.

Into a million pieces our hearts shattered
Along the way our dreams got battered.
Our hope seemed so far away
What life held for us we wondered each day.

There were moments we felt we were slipping off the edge
But using our strength, we pulled ourselves over the ledge.
Even when we were tempted to quit
That we came too far to give up to ourselves we had to admit.

Negativity we fought to overcome
As we picked ourselves up from the bottom.
Holding our head high, cruel remarks we ignored
While onto our dreams we boldly soared.

When people doubted us, in ourselves we believed
Knowing we could achieve anything our minds conceived.
Offering us a second chance, for us life held open another door
Before us lay endless opportunities to explore.

From our past and those who hurt us, we moved on
To the light at the end of the tunnel we were drawn.
On a new journey we embarked
A new chapter in our lives we marked.

Facing our dreams, we looked them straight in the eye
Their haunting memories we chose to defy.
Surrendering was an option we refused
Instead we chose to speak out about being abused.

Nothing could hold us back
Ready to fight, we prepared for every attack.
With courage we stood our ground
Breaking the chains that kept us bound.

All our hope was not lost
Over to a new destiny we crossed.
Through the storms we strived
Our faith once again revived.

We survived nightmares that were hell
Determined in all we set out to do we’d excel.
People who told us we would never make it, we didn’t listen to
Fighting with all we had, we made our breakthrough.

Now here we are today
Living our dreams because in the past we didn’t stay.
Warriors we have become in this life
Rising above to defeat our strife.
