Do you think it is getting better or worse?
With the debate on the increase, now more and more people have internet access what kind of future impact do you see it having on society? Good or bad?

19 February, 2007 at 10:00 am #260712I dont think the overall effect will be positive, although it might seem at a glance that more people having access to so much information is good, the sad reality of it is that a vast amount of people on the internet use it as a means of escaping their life and as a direct replacement for a social life
So many just wont want real world issues chipping away at their delusionary escape fantasy, and others will be near recluses apart from work and “have to” social events, so they will sit solitarily whinging about things to themselves assuming other people will do something about it
The less we socialise in person and en massé the less we as a people mobilise and make a stand for what we want, a fact the government is taking full advantage of and has been for years

Good question. The freedom the every day jill has now to see what the world’s about is a breath of fresh air, as once we relied on the “news” for a balanced view, we dont now.
I hardly watch tv now. I much prefer the “amatuer” stuff on youtube and google etc, individuality is the key. The independency of the internet may have sparked the “reality” tv shows.
More importantly, had it not been for the internet, i would still be on £8 ph doing something i didn’t like, in poor surroundings…now i can sit on a park’s lush grass, a sandy beach with the sun shinning and with my laptop, earn THREE times as much.
The communication networks have kept unemployment down to just 1.7 million, magic.
