This question has been on my mind for a while. Let me give you an example.
Recently loads of letters in my road have been mis-delivered by the postman. Letters to number 22 for example have been delivered to number 12. Letters for Mr ‘Bloggs’ went to Mr ‘Smith (or whatever). Glaring delivery errors that simply didn’t happen before … or at least only very infrequently. This wasn’t just once or twice but nearly every day.
So I thought, I know, I’ll speak with the postman and see if there is a problem. To my amazement the postman turned out to be a postwoman. She was in her late 20’s or early 30’s and had long blonde hair. Yes folks she was a blonde.
She had only recently taken over the round from her predecessor – at about the time that all the incorrect deliveries started.
So the question is….. are (female) blondes more stupid than other people or is this simply a one off?????
15 January, 2007 at 11:48 am #256331Be very careful here PB…….we blondes are an evil bunch when riled. I feel sure it was a one off mistake, she was new. I am sure having come up against you the small error will not occur again.
15 January, 2007 at 12:05 pm #256332PB mate you can’t say Postman, or Postwoman no more, it is British Mail delivery Person.
and mate all women are thick as 2 short planks
oh bugger shouldn’t of said that out loud. I’m of for the hills for the rest of me life bye :?
15 January, 2007 at 12:05 pm #256333Depends in my experience of blonde’s the natural ones are fine quiet level headed ladies
But f00k me put a bottle of bleach on a women’s head and well now that’s a different story
Maybe the chemicals in the bleach do something to there brain
Two ladies at work who are natural are very good at there job tell them once how to do it and yes they grasp it straight away
But there are a few bottle bleach trackie wearing kid under each arm at 16
Who seem to need to have it explained over and over again
Funny tho give them a family credit form and they can fill it in within under a minuet
15 January, 2007 at 12:09 pm #256334Such a pleasant attitude, and from an ‘ Admin ‘ yet!……..but to answer your question ( to the best of my ability ) its a myth, blonde females are no less intelligent than others, be they male or female, however the fact that the question was asked by ( Presumably) a man probably indicates that his IQ could accurately be estimated to be somewhere in the region of his tackle size ( in inches )…….does that help at all?
15 January, 2007 at 12:26 pm #256335I had the same problem a few years ago and was force into look into it.
It’s more about the way the post office training program works.
They don’t give them an English test or a reading test, but they do test them on driving skills.
All they do is give them 2 weeks training on letter sorting, a week with a another person doing a delivery and then send them out with a bag of letters.
They should be keeping an eye on her, but unless you make a written complate, the sorting office will not know about the problem.
It seems she is not checking her frame boxes.
To fix the problem someone at the sorting office will just check her boxes before she bags up and leaves the office for a few weeks.
My favourite story is the one about the postman who could not read, so put all the letters down a public toilets in Worthing.
It took the Post office 4 weeks to find out about it and deal with it.
But after all, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.
15 January, 2007 at 2:25 pm #256336To pick up on a few points from the above replies:
BB – the new blonde gracing our doorsteps has been in place for just over 2 1/2 months now during which time the post has consistently been misdelivered. She shows no signs of learning as only this morning I received a letter addressed to the house opposite.
Sunny: you may be onto something here. She is definitely a ”bottled blonde” as her hair looks as if it has been expensively ‘streaked’. Is this sort of hair treatment the cause of stupidity in blondes or were they stupid anyway and because of this chose to ”bottle” themselves???
salacia: you do a fine line in sarcasm which I thoroughly appreciate – even from a brand new user. As it happens …. yes I am male, but this was an accident of birth rather than expressing any intent on the part of my parents. BTW please do not become obsessed over ”tackle size” … fortunately you’ll never have the opportunity of confirming your prejudices (or otherwise).
DOA: may I compliment you on your spelling and grammar – it has improved enormously over the last few days. Well done and keep up the good work.
15 January, 2007 at 2:34 pm #256337Even from a brand new user?……arent noobs allowed to be sarcastic then?
….how do you know that its ‘ fortunate ‘ PB?……( what does PB stand for then? ) or shall I take a guess? :lol:15 January, 2007 at 3:36 pm #256338Where I used to live, there were only 16 houses on the street……..personally I got sick and tired of the postMAN! delivering the entire pack of post for the street through my door, I was number 2 so was the first house.
I happened to be there one day when the entire post for the street came through the door and I went outside and called him. I asked isn’t it your job, not mine to put the post through the doors, he gave me a blank stare. I took my own post and returned the rest of it to him. HE! wasn’t blonde, He actually was a black male, but then i’m sure PB would call me a racist for complaining about it.

I wouldn’t dream of calling you a racist Cas – why on earth should I?
