Police are to confirm the identities of two more victims of the so-called Ipswich Ripper.

The women are expected to be named as Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls – the discovery of their bodies on Tuesday took the total of murdered prostitutes to five.

Miss Clennell had not been seen since Saturday night, while Miss Nicholls had not been seen since December 4.

A massive manhunt is under way and detectives are hoping to recover DNA evidence which could aid their search for the killer.

Detective Chief Superintendent Stewart Gull of Suffolk Police, who is leading the investigation, earlier said the “natural assumption” was that the bodies discovered were those of Miss Clennell, 24, and Miss Nicholls, 29, both from Ipswich.

The bodies were discovered near Levington, a village to the south of Ipswich.

All five murdered prostitutes were found close to the A14 dual carriageway which links the Suffolk port of Felixstowe with the Midlands.

The naked body of Gemma Adams, 25, of Ipswich, was found on December 2 in woodland at Hintlesham, on the outskirts of Ipswich. She had last been seen on November 15.

On December 8 the body of Tania Nicol, 19, of Ipswich, was found in nearby Copdock. She was the first to go missing and had last been seen on October 30.

The naked body of Anneli Alderton, 24, from Colchester, Essex, was discovered at the weekend in Nacton, a few miles further east. She had been strangled.

very sad this, lets hope the so called Ripper is caught..!

What was perhaps even more sad was the fact that all of these prostitutes were long term drug addicts – even though they were youngsters – one was only 19 years old.

It seems that they were so far into drug abuse that the only way they could feed their habit was to prostitute themselves. What a terrible and indeed desperate thing to have to do.

I listened to the father of one of them on the redio this-morning. Hewas utterly distraught at hearing of his daughter’s death in this way and said that he didn’t know she was a prostitute, but that she had been ‘on drugs’ since she was 14 years old.

What a terrible thing for a parent to have to live with and what a terrible warning to all those who use drugs.

What I found so awful was the fact that even though these women KNEW that they were apparently being targeted, they were so desperate for money (to buy more heroin???) that they were prepared to carry on going out onto the streets looking for more customers.

And one of the victims is a mum of 3. Thats 3 kids who wont have their mum saying happy christmas to them this year, or any other.

I agree with your point Geoff – and Bat.

I heard on the News at 1 today a horrifying statistic. Apparently some 70% of prostitutes are single mothers. SEVENTY PERCENT ffs!!! That is appalling. What the hell kind of example are they setting to their children???

Jesus PB thats terrible!! How many of these women turn to prositution to fund their drug habbit and how many to feed and clothe their kids? I know thats why some women say they do it, because they dont get enough from the state to live on. But, is it, like I said to feed the drug habbit, or for the kids? Either way, your right, it,s a terrible example to set your kids. What drives them to do it? Surely there must be a better way? All this has left families and parents distraught, and innocent kids without a mum. Its a tragedy for the women who do it, and for the innocent people left behind to pick up the pieces.Especially the kids. Wonder how old they are? At this time of year too.

I just find what happened to to these girls was so sad. Whatever their chosen lifestyles or whatever risks they took, they are the victims of pure evil.

There was a young heroin addict who had kids who get killed a few miles from me a while back now

I cant remember the exact story…something about the victim was robbing someones house and someone woke up and pushed them down the stiars!!

    bit unfair really!

I mean ok he was commiting a crime (as do prostitutes)

But he was on drugs and was only trying to find money for his habit! ( and to support his children) and stealing was a last resort! im sure he hated the idea of being in someones house trying to find money for hits next hit but he needed the money so broke the law!

so now this christmas he wont be able to say merry christmas to his children will he! all because someone, took his life away from him!

a sad loss im sure you agree?

Token, whilst I’m trying to see your point, I think your way off the mark.
If I wake up and find some basta*d coming up the stairs, I’m going to kill the runt as well, my wife and kids are up there!
I don’t give a rats ass about some little smack head, no-one made him take drugs.
The thought that drug users are victims is crap, it’s self inflicted.

I do feel sorry for his kids though, but I bet they’re going to be better off in the long run without the idiot around, not exactly a good role model.

Why is it that we always think that prostitutes are either druggies feeding a habit or forced into it, have any of you considered the possibilities that they chose to do this for whatever reason.

It is extremely sad for the girls that have no choice, and Christ knows what the kids are going to grow up like, seeing their Mum do that.

Wouldn’t it be better all round, not to say safer, for the councils to legalise brothels.
Providing they can find an area that would suit all.

It’s not called the oldest profession for nothing

I think it is awful what is happening, and i hope they catch the person(s) who are doing this and with out being to blunt f*ck them up for life.

My heart goes to the families who have lost their daughters, mother sisters this christmas.

As much as I normally enjoy reading your “different” slant on threads I think you are way of mark here.

What about the supply/demand aspect of prostitution? If there was no demand, they would probably have to resort to robbery to fund their habits. As it stands they choose to do a risky job without causing physical loss or hurt to innocent home owners. I dont agree with what they do, but neither do I agree with purves kerb crawling for a 5 quid w/a*k! Which one of them is worse?

At the end of the day no matter what these women do, they are someone’s daughter, someone’s mum, and that fact they chose/were pushed into such a seedy profession should not take any emphasis away from the fact there is a nutter out there somewhere who poses a risk to ALL women (and maybe even men………..)
