Hospital tests baby for ‘heroin’
The baby is currently receiving hospital treatment
Police in Edinburgh are waiting for the results of tests on a one-year-old baby girl to discover if she has been suffering from the effects of heroin.
It is understood that paramedics found the girl unconscious at her home in the Wester Hailes area of the city.A Lothian and Borders police spokeswoman said the baby was in a stable condition.
She added: “We are investigating the circumstances that led to an infant needing hospital treatment.”
The child is being treated at the city’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
Paramedics were called to the baby’s home in Wester Hailes on Thurday and found the girl unconscious.
They managed to revive her before transferring her to hospital where she is still receiving treatment.
Police are waiting for the results of toxicology tests and declined to comment further “while inquiries were ongoing”.
Are the people responsible for this infant going to be put up in a nice comfy cell, with colour TV, and 3 meals a day,,,,,,,,,,,oh and lets not forget that they’ll be able to take their drugs too,,,,,cos it’s unlawful for a prison officer to take drugs away from them isn’t it.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ,,,,,,,,,,,,,I hope they rot in hell…

19 November, 2006 at 2:23 pm #249954i doubt it cas……………….first social workers will stick their oars in…………council the poor unfortunate parents………treat them to free re hab.an pay their fares to get there. then have numerous meetings to decide if the baby is better off with the mother………meanwhile the child will be placed with foster carers………….they will be allowed to visit of course as long as they have had their methadone first……….then after a few weeks.if the baby lives and once social workers have given them a new council house and paid for it to be furnished and decorated…..they will hand her back. case closed.
19 November, 2006 at 2:41 pm #249955I don’t for one minute, doubt anything you said Pats……….I was slated once, on these boards, no doubt by the very do-gooders your talking about, for saying that people like this should be sterilised,,,,,,,,,,in order to prevent them from bringing any more children into the world only to suffer this kind of abuse, cos that’s what it is when it comes down to it, abuse!! It was all, noooo, they need help etc etc., yea they need help alright, kind of help i’m thinking about though is against the law,,,,,,,,,,,unfortunately
No, I don’t suppose it was given to the child deliberately, well at least I hope not  But a one year old child moves around independently and has probably picked it up!! Even so, yea good question, where were the social workers, I can’t believe that social workers wouldn’t have already been involved in her life. Oh I know, they were overworked,,,,,,awwww.
When my son was about 2 or 3 Pats, he’d gotten hold of one of those paint mixer syringes, don’t ask me how! it was on top of the microwave, which was on a shelf high on the wall, seconds it took!! I couldnt believe it!…………I rushed him straight to hospital ,,,,,,,, never had anything like it happen before, never had cause to take him for anything before, but I was treated like scum! People like these seem to be treated like royalty!!!

You have a lot of sense and i agree with you all the way. They are now saying that if druggies are made to do “cold turkey” in prison they will get COMPENSATED makes you sick!!!! But to do that to a child DISGRACEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
20 November, 2006 at 10:39 am #249957For once i’m in agreement with you too today Cas ( i must be having bad week – it’s only just started ) ffs
Anyway what i would like to ask you is why the need to inject paint mix ?????/

Lol Drivel.
I don’t think they do them anymore, at least iv’e not seen them in places liked B & Q, Homebase etc., They were a large plastic kind of syringe, you’d gradually ‘inject’ or aqueeze it into a pot of (normally) white paint to get the exact colour you wanted. This one was a dark brown, himself, in his infinate wisdom, thought it was chocolate

I hope it doesn’t come into play as far as this case is concerned TM. Iv’e never heard anyway of anyone suffering from post natal depression being driven to taking heroin!!The mother who jumped under a train with her kids? I’m not so sure that was post natal depression, wasnt it more the abuse she suffered at home, and didn’t know any other way, tragic as it was, the real tragedy is that she saw that as the only way out of her situation.
Without wishing to imflame you TM, I don’t know your views on it, but to a lot of men, post natal depression is a figment of women’s imagination. Having once been a sufferer of it, I can assure you, it was no figment of my imagination.
23 November, 2006 at 2:34 am #249961i do not EVER think pnt is a figment of the imagination although it is all in the mind (literaly a state of mind) my step mother suffered with it terribly so i know it exists.
all im saying is drastic times lead to drastic measures and if this mother thinks that blaming it on pnt will get her off charges then she will do it
and most probably get off with it too
