Muslim groups which prove they are trying to outlaw extremism within their ranks are to receive financial support, Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly says.
Cash will be available for projects that involve women, that build bridges between communities and are in touch with young people, she said.
She said it was “not good enough” to pay lip service to tackling extremism.
But some Muslim groups condemned her, saying the government was trying to create its own “state-sponsored Islam”.
“Unless moderates can establish themselves at the centre of their communities and faith, extremists could grow in strength and influence”
Ruth KellyIn a direct appeal to Muslims, Ms Kelly stressed that tackling the problem of extremism was not theirs alone.
“This is a shared problem … But I do say that without you fully on side we will fail. Your voice is more powerful than mine and your actions can be more effective.
“Unless moderates can establish themselves at the centre of their communities and faith, extremists could grow in strength and influence.”
She added: “In the future, I’m clear that our strategy of funding and engagement must shift significantly towards those organisations that are taking a proactive leadership role in tackling extremists and defending our values.”
“I am happy to note that the government is taking serious note of what is required in terms of supporting the Muslim community.”

The first thing to note here, is the word “extremism”. Its used in a way that says, you (anyone that doesn’t agree with new labours ideology) are the badies, and we (new labour) are the great and the good.
The second thing is, that this word is a very opinionated term. ANY single one thing on this planet can be described as extreme by ANY single one human being.
So, what ruth kelly is saying is, “we” can build the society of new labours choice, not through policy (that hasn’t worked), but through YOU’RE taxes, because thats the only way now bar a fully fledged police state that it can happen.
Pay people to live side by side. Not you, no you are the prodomanent tax payer who doesn’t vote, no, its much cheaper to pay the minorities that new labour are loosing through the ballot box with you’re money.
Can you stop new labour?
13 October, 2006 at 8:12 pm #244314Emmalush, I look at all the new topics and see they are nearly all started by you and they are nearly all complete garbage. Your domination of these message boards is embarrassing. Nobody ever agrees with you but you don’t shut up. You are a fuc/king moron.
13 October, 2006 at 9:02 pm #244315Whilst only managing to provide insults, its clear why you dont have the capacity to talk about Current Affairs & Serious Posts.
If you have better stories to show us….

AMEN!!!!!
That’s a totally unfair and unacceptable critiscism of Emma
Critiscise her opinions by all means – but she should be praised for the amount of topics she starts and contributes to16 October, 2006 at 11:17 pm #244318Praise a bigot for starting lots of bigoted threads?
17 October, 2006 at 1:01 am #244319The silly cow copies stories off the BNP website and posts them here. She’s turned this forum into a conduit for neo-nazi propaganda. Sadly, some people actually agree with her idiotic and bigoted comments.
17 October, 2006 at 9:17 am #244320‘Know thine enemy’….and on that basis I WANT to read the neo-nazi propaganda. I think it’s marvellous of Emma to provide us with an insight into the workings of the BNP machinery. If her dogmatic persistence is outrun only by her periphrasis…..then her very constancy is at least worthy of approbation..however misguided..however deluded…we may perceive it to be. Emma’s threads afterall..far from being vox populi..are vox et praeterea. So let her be.

That’s more or less what I said – only mine was in understandable English !!!
It’s difficult to get people to start interesting threads on Boards – Emma threads usually attract a lot of interest
Take her threads of this Current Affairs Board and it would be very sparse indeed
All you lot gobbing off – should start your own threads then !!!17 October, 2006 at 12:30 pm #244322@Ow£n Ka$h wrote:
