good idea or not, scotland and wales are against the idea for the games in 2008 and 2012
I think it will be good for GB to have a team to represent at the games but what makes international great for any englishmen and scotsman, is the rivalry between the two
what are your views?

MY views are..YA cant get a woman so ya vent your spleen on a stupid game of football.
and one day ya WILL meet and MARRY..( you WILL) ,and this stupid anger will die off.
Good point! come on Matty dont you know that married men dont like football!! So remember people men who are football fans who are passionate about something you have to knock it off once your married!
women can be passionate about things married or unmarried but not men! its all just anger ask rubyred.
i dont see it as a bad idea i think the only reason rivalries would get in the way is because obviously the team would be made up of more english players than scottish or welsh or northern ireland put together.
so although i would be a good thing for britain i dont see it ever happening the scots have too much pride than to cheer on a team because its got one or two of their players in.
but remember people from scotland one day you will marry and meet someone and it will all end!

5 October, 2006 at 12:51 pm #243479Ruby has made it clear she isnt a football fan she deems the sport stupid, and blames anyone who likes the game on being unmarried :D :D
il say why i dont think this great britain team will happen because although i see myself as british i live in the united kingdom in great britain! i live here im british!
and i think you wil find that if you asked alot of people in england they would say they where british
whereas in scotland as we know its a different story.
Also there would be no banter! the thing i like about football is the banter you get with other fans, we would lose that!
athletics and all other areas is ok its never affected and not as supported but football i dont think it would workim not for segregating the country lol but its just my opinion
5 October, 2006 at 3:18 pm #243480Ok, I’ll be honest here. Are there any Scotland or Wales players who would make a GB Footy team? I cant think of one offhand. Giggs maybe, but he’ll be gone by 2008 or 2012.
Scotland are getting some good results just now, but it’s more of a team effort rather than great individual talent.
20 or 30 years ago we’d have had 3 or 4 players in a GB team, but our great individual talent isnt there anymore, so I doubt we’d even get a player on the bench.5 October, 2006 at 5:13 pm #243481Olympic football teams are made up of young players with the allowance of a couple of older players. Most of Britain’s best players would be too old to play in the side, so there couldn’t be a British dream team.
5 October, 2006 at 8:19 pm #243482Ok, Even if it’s Under 23 with a few older players thrown in. How many players would Scotland and Wales get in that team??
