An international group of scientists believes a period of reduced solar activity could soon bring desperately needed cooling to our sweltering world.
The work is based on research of past periods of climatic change, including the Little Ice Age in the 1700s when Europe shivered, the Thames froze over, and harvests failed. At the same time, solar activity dropped and sunspots disappeared from the face of the Sun.
Now leading scientists are predicting that we may soon enter such a period again – although they stress such cooling would only bring temporary relief to our overheated world.

Question, how will David Cameron provide a “touchy feely image for votes” image, now that it seems were not (and never have been) in any immediate global warming danger?
Vote blue, turn blue **shiver** :D

As to shiver with the blues, at least you can put a sweater on, with Blair nothing will protect you.

You stated it will only bring ‘brief’ & ‘temporary’ relief.
So why is it bad news?
It slows down global warming, so it scuppers david cameron’s political “vote for me” image. Cameron is the political superman of anti-global warming. I think he is loosing his Kryp-tonight
29 September, 2006 at 8:11 pm #243017IF scientists were claiming the sun would make our planet hotter in the coming years, would we view camerons words on global warming with more concern? Yes (those who dont understand the evlutionary process would).
So the opposite scenario is no.

In the last of a long line of natural global ice ages (that will continue for millions of years to come), the thames froze, and as far down as leeds was like the outskirts of the current north pole.
It will happen again, REGARDLESS of what humans do.
