I know we’ve had lots of discussions on the pros and cons of the Euro and whether we should join, but this thread is not really about that.
What I’m wondering is to what extent the Euro is becoming an unofficial second currency in the UK. I live near Bath, which is a popular tourist destination and many shops, cafes etc. accept Euros. Is this the case in other tourist centres? What about London?

It’s a stable currency, easily exchanged for Pound Sterling, I see no reason to not accept it.
27 August, 2006 at 12:31 am #238219I would expect you’d have to pay three dirty euro’s for a bag of chips in England, i certainly wouldn’t accept less.
I would guess its strongly challenging the US dollar, as the UNofficial second currency, and will over take it someday, what with the europeans coming here and our lot venturing holidays, bringing some back (even ive got about 10 euros), and the paddy’s spending 5 euros at cheltenham on a pint of cold guiness…
