With lots of national anthems being played on TV at the moment I was just wondering which one people like best, in musical terms.
I think the most stirring is the German one, while the French one is quite irritating and our own ‘God save the queen’ is plain dull. Rule Britannia would be more rousing!
Anyway, our current anthem is British rather than English, so perhaps in the World Cup they should play ‘Jerusalem’, which is the unofficial English anthem.
‘And did those feeeet, in ancient times……..’
I like the Scottish anthem, obviously (even though nowhere will be playing it anytime soon) :lol:
At least everyone knows the words lol – when I listen to people sing ‘God save the Queen’ most manage the first sentence then sort of tail off……….. :lol:

I think ours should be Land of Hope And Glory! 8)Even as an atheist, I would still have Jerusalem.
I always quite like the Italian anthem. Quite a jaunty little number.
Come on England! :D
The French national anthem has the most inspiring lyrics and the tune is uplifting too.
