My son has got a Fast Ethernet Switch to connect his Xbox to the internet. I`ve Googled a bit for some info but I`m lost. Can anyone please give me any advice as to how it actually connects up or a link to a site that explains it in `plain English` and is there any info I should be aware of? :?

I have a Netgear ADSL wireless firewall router and i configure my router and firewall through an Explorer screen, im not sure if you would do the same for a fast ethernet switch?

If you go to your hardware manafactures website they normally have a support forum with a wealth of information on your product.

You could try going to the Netgear support forum. Look under switches.

    Thanks Anubis xxx
This is the set up we`ve been trying to follow,

all seems ok until we try to connect, no dialling tone so no internet access. I`ll definately have a look at that link though, thanks.

I have exactly the same set up minus the wires and my modem is built into the router im 80% sure you would have to configure your router through an explorer screen. You have DSL?? check with your ISP for your recomended MTU packet size for your Broad Band connection and make sure you have configured this correctly with your router. This is normally the number one connection fault for Wireless routers and it may be the same for switches???

Make sure you have path MTU discovery enabled, Heres a tutorial BB and an explanation on what MTU is

    http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/888/

You have no tone/connection because you have not configured your Router.

Well the registry looks ok, so will have to check out the other link to find out whats going on. :?
    Thanks a lot though. xxx
