Ok…squirrels are cute…. but squirrels and I have a love-hate relationship. I put bird food out for my lovely birds and the squirrels come along and eat it all! GRrrrrrrrrrrr, makes me furious!! I have tried everything even feeding them and they still envade the bird feeders, I give up!

Lovely poem describing them, but don’t let those furry friends fool ya!!

    Get a squirrel-proof feeder: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?RedirectEnter&partner=35421&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7746172042

Or you can make your own, apparently by fixing two hemispherical hanging baskets together, provided that the spaces in the baskets’ mesh are smaller than a squirrel’s cross-sectional signature.

Great idea, thanks for the link!! Did you know I even greased up the pole with oil, and those little rascals still found a way to get to the food!! They are ruthless! :-({|=

Like a lot of creatures squirrel’s are a nuisence , I had them nesting in my loft some while back and it took ages to get rid .But we must never forget we encroached on their land-Love William

Well in the case of the grey squirrel that’s not entirely true, as they’re not a native UK species so they didn’t initially have any “land” we could “encroach on”…

My mate has suggested the following anti-squirrel-on-bird-feeder devices:

    1. Electrify the pole, insulating only the top bit where the birds flit.
    2. Get a .22 rifle.
    3. Spike the bird food with red peppers, which birds don’t mind but squirrels do.

Of course you are right , however I have never and will never kill or harm any living creature-to get rid of the squirrels in my loft I traped them and releashed them in the hills -Regards William
