i am watching a programme on channel 4 about women breast feeding. just thinking what people thought about it? There was a woman on there still breast feeding an 8 year old i don’t think that is right.. I was breast fed i think, but i would like to think my mum went somewhere private to feed me and not just flop em out in public. I have no problem with breast feeding, i would’nt mind my future kids being breast fed (not at 8 years old though), just think it should be done in private!!! :D :D :?: :?: :?:

to be honest i find the double standards involved with peoples views to do with breastfeeding in public a little odd, i mean lets face it the very same feeding devices are in practically every daily newspaper, so why are women made to feel like they are doing something wrong when feeding in public?

as to breast feeding a child at 8 or 9 i do admit i find that extremely odd.

Breast feeding is a great thing…..but some people just don’t take to it, I lasted a few weeks with both mine, but it was far too painful, I was nearly crying with pain, I ended up dreading feeding time – that was when I knew it was time for the bottle!

And anyway, I didn’t want my boobs to get saggy!

My sister lasted till her son was one and a half – everyone used to comment about it (interfering family members  ) so I’m sure she will have watched the prog with interest.

Personally, I think 2 is the max limit for feeding – not just because it is a bit disturbing seeing an 8 (or 10!) year old breast feeding, but also because the more a child is used to something, the harder it is to break their routine, which then leads to the child being upset and distressed, which isn’t fair on them. :(

Oh….and I felt sorry for the little chinese girl – I thought the adoptive mother was way over the top there…. :?

I find breast feeding good although i didnt with my 2 (personal reasons) its a good thing and i doesnt bother me seeing mummies doing it in public. But if i saw an 8 year old then it would sicken me! I read about one of the women as i didnt see the programme i was at work, she said she asked her daughter what she wanted for her 10th birthday and she said “to be breast fed!!! and the mother is thinking about it. I mean you cant start letting a 10 year old suck on your boobs i see it as child abuse there is no need to breast feed past the age of 1 really as they get all the goodness from real food and cows milk!!

Breast feeding is the most natural thing, not my thing granted. But that program sickened me. An 8 year old whinging for breast milk, the mother wopping it out for her the little girl was losing the reflux so wasnt getting milk but wanted to suck anyway! When its at this stage surely it borders child abuse?
