    I know deep down this award is a load of crap…. but when is Ellen Macarther gonna get the recognition she deserves.
    I defy any bloke to carry out what she’s done. She doesnt just play her sport…. she lives it.

    Didn’t she become a Dame or something the minute she set foot on dry land?
    Is sailing round the world single handed a sport? :-s

    Sailing is a sport just like formula 1, horseracing or even running. Its all about getting from A to B in the fastest time using a particular type of transport. Only in her case a race doesnt last a few minutes or even hours…. it lasts months.

    Sailing around the world – I thought that meant actually going `around the world` not down the Atlanic, round the antarctic and back up the Atlantic again :?

    Must be different these days from when I was at sea.

    But, I still admire her for her courage and determination.

    (But didn`t a Yank actually sail `round` the world in the 70`s?)
