The world’s worst football team is apparently American Samoa, who lost 31-0 to Australia a little while back.
They have been in the World Cup qualifiers, playing Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands. A new and suspenseful documentary, Next Goal Wins, looks at the training and games.
American Samoa have not only employed the world’s first transvestite player to take part in the World Cup, but have also found and recalled the goalie from the Australian match.
I’m supporting them.

American Samoa have advanced to #186 in the League tables. They are no longer the world’s worst team.
But they didn’t qualify for the World Cup.

Why, cosy, I didn’t realise you were so fluent in the South-West pacific languages..
In fact, what I was saying could be translated in different ways.
In Samoan, it means, Get inside the igloo, it’s snowing..
But in American Samoan it means GOOOOALL!!!. There are so many ks because this was the signal to American Samoans of the historic score in the match with Australia.
Of course, there is the Tonganese translation, which means I’m Jake the Peg diddle diddle diddle dum – though when the news of the real meaning of this once-popular song by an Australian artist gets through to Tonga, they will be very embarrassed.
