Retired people should be encouraged to do community work such as caring for the “very old” or face losing some of their pension, a peer has suggested.
Lord Bichard, a former benefits chief, said “imaginative” ideas were needed to meet the cost of an ageing society.
Funny, I thought that working all my adult life and paying national insurance and tax was working for my pension…guess I was wrong…
24 October, 2012 at 12:33 pm #513456I’m not sure why I pay into a pension. I’m 39 next month. I doubt retirement will be an option when I get to my 60s.

Yeah, not doubt he will want them wearing suits with a giant OAP printed on them and sandwich boards stating, “scrounger.”
25 October, 2012 at 12:56 pm #513462I hate the lazy bastards who think that, because they paid something in, they should get something out. Pay tax, pay into a pension, expect a retirement. Jeeeez!
Forget something for something. Forget something for nothing. It’s about time we realised it’s a nothing for something world out there.
Make your payments – take the shit. And while you’re at it – shut up.
Right now, I’m so proud to be British. We were all together and happy about the Olympics and what we could do if we really tried. Now look at us.
