THEY seem to be popping up everywhere now, pound shop.pound save, pound world etc
where i live theres 2 next door to one another with a b and ms inbetween, and just round the corner is home bargains and a quality save,i love them and its not just because i am poor, but hey all my toiletries, food, underwear, socks all sorted for about 20 quid a week
cigs arent cheap obviously, but the booze is
so do any of you use these shops?
if not why not?
you dont know what you are missing.1 September, 2012 at 4:52 pm #507606I take a wander down the high street pretty much every week………..when i think of the shops that have disappeared over the last couple of years ………it’s quite shocking…….today one of the oldest toolshop in this town has gone and the ‘forsale’ sign has gone up…….now thats a shame
i have seen a few ‘pound’ shops spring up just recently ……..the majority look like 5 minute wonders tbh………real second rate goods and dodgey looking owners …….i dare say a few are probably just frontage for ‘smoking shops’ like the ones i’ve been told about in london.
2 September, 2012 at 11:45 am #507607no tinks no,i know where the shops that you mean are 8) ,but im on about the bona fide pound shops, long may they reign,oh and not strictly a pound shop, but iceland rocks “””

Cosy .. there’s nothing i like better than rummaging around in a charity shop for a cheap bargain item or three.
You can find some true gems in them !

Probably down to internet shopping, taking away customers from the streets – why go out when you can get it delivered and most likely cheaper?
as for pound shops being the new head shops – damn i got to get myself down to my local Euro shop to see are they the same over here
4 September, 2012 at 9:46 am #507612erm…………is it just me, but the pound shops are now 99p shops!!! :? Well, it is in The Gateway To The South!
What annoys me, is that they don’t have a charity box beside the tills – I would always put tuppence in, or whatever – I actually told the manager they should! I think they did at Xmas, so maybe others have said summit as well.
4 September, 2012 at 4:18 pm #507613Poundland here has goods on their shelves that are actually over a quid……..I wonder how many people have clocked that?………Plus as well, some of their branded goods such as toiletries are often more expensive than the supermarket shelves……..whole Panorama about that one.
5 September, 2012 at 9:23 am #507614Poundland was getting a bit expensive for many people in the more depressed parts of the North-East. I think they were thinking of putting in 50p shops.
Really..I went into a Poundland shop last year and saw a couple of OAPs looking worried as they were trying to figure out what they couldn’t afford. Was genuinely sad.
