    If you’re following the Olympics you’ll probably be aware of who Tom Daley is.

    And you’ll be thankful and relieved that our police force is doing all it can to protect the safety of athletes at the games….

    A report in the ‘paper today;

    Dorset Police confirmed they had arrested a 17-year-old at a guest house in Weymouth after Tom Daley received a tweet saying: ‘You let your dad down, I hope you know that.’

    Why on earth would the police arrest someone for JUST that?

    Are you sure theres not more to the story as your posts are usually cropped to how you want others to read it.

    Clearly i’m not part of the GB team at the olympics and can’t have you arrested for posting that spiteful comment. :roll:

    The Twitter troll who abused Tom Daley could face a fine of £2,500 if charged and found guilty.
    Under the Malicious Communications Act 1988, any ‘indecent or grossly offensive’ message that causes ‘distress or anxiety’ to the recipient can lead to prosecution.
    The maximum punishment is a fine not exceeding level four on the standard scale – i.e. no more than £2,500.

    yeh,tis true,police did arrest the tweeter in a dawn swoop,even tho i detest tom daley, he is forever posing in his trunks in hello mag etc,the 18 yr old daley thinks hes gods gift,maybe if he stopped poncing about,he might win a medal,but i doubt it, albeit on saying that it wasnt his fault in the doubles that was down to pete watermans ineptitude.

    I quite admire Tom Daley.

    He has won medals at previous championships; gold at the 2009 World Championships and two golds in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and is now at his second Olympics.

    His father,who was a big influence in his career, died of cancer last year.

    I wonder what the bloke who has been arrested has achieved in his 17 years?
