over the past year battersea dogs home,has taken care of some animals with decidedly unusual names including gucci,armadillo,hero pig,nancy drew ,ugly,and a tiny yorkshire terrier called megatron :roll:
but more people it seems, are traditionalists at heart,here are its top 10 male dogs name for 2011

We had some dogs growing up too though.
There was a Flash, another Flash, a Butch and a Higgins.Too many cats to mention.
My mother still has five or six.higgins?

Actually, he was rather small and very aggressive.
A kinda cross between Yorkshire Terrier and Velociraptor.I seem to recall the name was in dual homage to the snooker great and the posh bloke from Magnum PI.
My fave was Butch though. He was one of those curious dogs of nondescript breed with loads of character.
Loved him.
I feel kinda sad now :(did higgins have cushions in his basket?
I couldnt think of a name for my alsation labrador cross a cple of years back so i googled top 10 names for dogs, i loved the name MAX and picked that, nice to see name still makes top 10 ……………
I got my dog from Battersea Dogs Home when he was 6 months old – his name was MAC – his colour is whisky! (well, was, he is now 13 and going grey :( They suggested we change his name to Smiler, because he is always looking like he is, I decided not to, he had a tough enough time! :D
I have had three dogs, all rescue.
Oscar, Barney and Harvey. RIP
Have six cats now. All waifs and strays. Loves them all.
When I was a child (until I was a teenager), I had three Mitzi’s – I never wondered why they suddenly got smaller!! All golden retrievers. :D
The dogs:
Frist there was Quail, she ran away
Then there was Rebel, he ran away
Then there was Chance, he got ran over
Then there was Ben, we didnt like him so we had him put down (he attacked the farmers sheep so we had to before the farmer got him)
Then there was Bruce, he died of old age(I loved Bruce and Rebel the most)
The cats:
First there was Psycho, she got ran over
Then there was Cluas, she got ran over
Then there was Bandit, had kittens then ran away
Then there was Oscar (daddy of the kittens), he ran away, (but was old so probably went off to die)
We gave the kittens away.Psycho was my favourite until now as I have Mani :D
