For 50 years, kids have done better than their parents….the next generation will be the first to do worse
How scarey and sad is the above statement…..so what is the solution? Of course it won’t be all the kids but I am assuming a large majority…how do we tackle teen pregnancies and kids not wanting to continue in further education?
How do we tackle the price of houses being so high? More and more kids don’t move out of the parental home…so I guess when the kids get to a certain age and the parents are older the kids must just be waiting around for the parents to pop their clogs….so that will mean they will have a house with no mortgage…will we have to wait for at least 2 generations for things to start re balancing out with a large majority of kids not having to pay for mortgages and rent for their wages to let them live comfortably and not on the bread line?
What do you think?5 May, 2012 at 5:29 pm #495340I think we need a government that will bring about positive change.
One things’s for certain – we’re not going to get it with David Cameron.
We need to get ourselves out of the EU with a national referendum and start from there.

Kenty, that is the reality of housing. The OAP home-owners vs the kids – who’s gooing to get to the mortgage first? And for those without a mortgage – well, oh dear. And how to stop people getting pregnant??? *wields a giant pair of scissors
A very different set-up is needed to my way of thinking, based on cooperation and care rather than kicking your mate’s teeth down the back of his throate when s/he opens his mouth to cry for help. That is trite, and I’m not going to fill in the details in this little box(! – as though I have all the details).
And Terry, sorry mate, couldn’t disagree with you more. We had the referendum on Europe. I voted no and most people voted yes. When that campaign started, all the opinion polls showed oppositon but when ppl looked at it they thought maybe it’s best. And imhp that would happen again.
I think we should fight to change the EU, make it democratically accountable, make the Euro or its successor a viable currency, work with ordinary people in Europe in a common cause as partners, so I’m against the rise of the neo-Nazi and nationalist politics we’re seeing everywhere at this moment (the neo-Nazis could do very well in Greece’s lection, I believe, and look at Le Pen in France and the UKIP/BNP here). In the long term, Europe is where Britain’s destiny lies.
5 May, 2012 at 5:56 pm #495342Im not 100% sure the statement is true… I can only go on the younger people I know who in the main are doing well thank you very much. That cannot be due to the area I live in as Yorkshire is supposed to be depressed…
I will admit we were able to assist in the kids buying their own properties…. but most their friends have parents who did the same… as parents downsized properties they assisted kids to get on the property ladder. Both my kids work hard… they get that from us…. I have a nephew who had difficulty getting started in a career but even he is now getting established…. maybe things are not as bad as we think?

1) We’ve not had a referendum on Europe. If we had we wouldn’t be part of the EU any longer.
2) UKIP are not a “neo-nazi” party.
This country’s problem can only be solved one step at a time and it’s essential that we get out of Europe as soon as we can so we can start the process of rebuilding.
5 May, 2012 at 6:07 pm #495344As far as Europe is concerned I used to be pro Europe… but Im sort of coming around to Terry’s way of thinking….. not persuaded yet but certainly not as pro Europe as I used to be…. we need some open debate… with facts and figures and no spin!

What we need is an end to european integration.
The Poles have sent home – according to a national statistics survey – £23 billion in the last seven years. It’s money our economy cannot afford to lose. It’s basic economic madness for this country to allow east Europeans to work here in the numbers they do.
